    Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)

     

    This role requires either a Registered Nurse license or a Radiation Therapist license (ARRT RTT or CA RTT).

     

    A Brief Overview

     

    Responsible for the day-to-day operations of radiation oncology care delivery at all sites of the Radiation Oncology Cancer Network. Works with the Executive Director and Senior Director to develop and manage the administrative, technical, nursing, fiscal, human and information resources of the department/clinic while ensuring compliance with standards and laws of external regulatory organizations. Develops and manages the department's operating budgets and develops capital budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director and Senior Director. With the Executive and Senior Directors, develops, plans and Implements strategies to ensure cost control and revenue enhancements. Supervises subordinate staff through Tier-2 managers and supervisors. Collaborates with the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology Cancer Network and the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations for the Department of Radiation Oncology in the School of Medicine, on clinical, quality, patient safety, and regulatory management and preparedness.

    What you will do

    + Directs all administrative, fiscal, human, technical and clerical services for the department; determines the number of qualified staff needed to provide resources for service delivery; provides resources, both financial and staff, to build new opportunities for business expansion; determines resources required (facilities, equipment and supplies) for the effective department operation; develops, prepares and manages these services operating budgets and capital budget and maintains department operating budgets at planned target levels.

    + Develops, implements, analyzes and monitors profitability of new treatment programs. Develops and implements new treatment modalities.

    + Develops and implements policies and procedures to guide and support the provision of services meeting external regulatory and statutory requirements; ensures that policies and procedures are compatible with the function and goals of the hospital and clinics. Monitors and assures compliance with regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, The Joint Commission, The American College of Radiology, and hospital policies for patient services and environmental and personnel safety.

    + Develops and monitors an internal system to ensure correct coding and charge capture. Ensures that appropriate procedures and systems are in place for reception, registration, scheduling and billing.

    + Develops, maintains and evaluates a comprehensive quality management program that is in compliance with Stanford Hospital and Clinic’s plan as well as external requirements (accreditation, regulatory and licensing agencies.). Determines an appropriate delivery of care model for service in cooperation with staff and physicians. Implements and evaluates safe, therapeutic, and cost-effective patient care practices. Focuses on nursing and radiation therapy practice metrics for optimal patient safety, and clinical acumen.

    + Manages linear accelerator, Cyberknife and other equipment replacement projects. Analyzes space needs, recommends and manages space renovation projects to meet programs and/or volume growth.

    + Defines and develops radiation therapy service standards, procedure coding and revenue capture system, quality assurance program , patient safety treatment policies and procedures for the outreach centers.

    + Develops nursing policy and procedures aligned with SHC ambulatory nursing practices. Follows guidelines from ONS in accordance with radiation oncology specific practices and implements standard work to assure top of license.

    + Defines performance objectives and metrics for the department and assesses the level of competence of staff in a timely manner. Continuously assesses and improves department’s performance based on “customer” needs; directs and participates in improving performance and services which benefit staff, patients and other customers. Collaborates with Managers to assist them and to maintain appropriate quality control programs in response to internal standards of care and external requirements. Facilitates collaborative work with other clinical areas including infusion and cancer clinics to provide a congruent process for patient care coordination. This includes nursing triage, clinical nursing management, and patient education both from nurses and radiation therapists.

    Education Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university. Required

    + Master’s Degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university. Preferred

    Experience Qualifications

    + Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. Required

    + Ten (10) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. Preferred

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    + Knowledge of theory, principles, methods, and equipment of radiation therapy.

    + Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management.

    + Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirement related to the functional area .

    + Ability to make decisions based on fact and sound judgment.

    + Ability to establish effective relationships and communication with staff, clinical leadership team, physicians, other healthcare professionals and patients and families.

    + Ability to provide leadership and influence others.

    + Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus.

    + Ability to mediate and resolve complex problems and issues.

    + Ability to develop long-range business plans and strategy.

    Licenses and Certifications

    + California Registered Nurse license -or-

    + ARRT R.T.(T) - Radiation Therapy license -or-

    + California Therapeutic Radiologic Technology license

    Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $100.03 - $132.51 per hour

     

    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
