    Job Description

    An employer is looking to add a Data Engineer to their team. They will be focused on new, custom Perl development, and will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining custom Perl scripts for data parsing, automation, and legacy system integration.

     

    They will be responsible for writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers across SQL Server databases. They will integrate and enrich datasets from multiple sources, including third-party APIs, flat files, and external databases. They will use Jenkins and GitLab for CI/CD for building and maintaining pipelines.

     

    They will work in a Linux-based environment and be responsible for managing scripts, jobs, and data workflows, and ensuring data quality, consistency, and performance across all systems. They will be responsible for testing their code, participating in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing across teams.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    5+ years of experience in Perl development, Object Oriented Perl using Moo/Moose

     

    Advanced SQL skills with hands-on experience in joins, indexing, stored procedures, and performance tuning

     

    Experience with SQL Server in a production environment

     

    Proven ability to join and enrich datasets from multiple internal and external sources

     

    Strong experience working in Linux environments (shell scripting, cron jobs, file system management)

     

    Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab Working knowledge of React
