    Shaw Industries is looking for a Reliability Electrician IV to maintain and ensure the capacity of equipment assets in assigned areas of responsibility that impact optimal efficiencies at the lowest reasonable cost. This position will be filled on D shift, 7pm to 7am, on a rotating schedule

    Grow in knowledge of maintenance practices and equipment performance, understanding their impact on manufacturing processes and business objectives

     

    Provide feedback on job assignment needs and improvement opportunities with peers and leadership

    POSITION DUTIES & TASKS:

    Maintain manufacturing process and support equipment to highest, reasonable performance levels to include electrical systems including, but not limited to:

    + Electrical system components - MCC’s, inverters, motors, etc.

    + Control systems - PLC’s, robotics, and other associated automation equipment

     

    Troubleshoot and execute repairs of equipment causing or contributing to safety, quality, downtime/productivity opportunities and issues

     

    + Differentiate between cause types when troubleshooting among product, process, mechanical, and electrical contributors

    + Communicate findings, identifying potential causes, and correction steps to operations and maintenance leadership

    + Verify and provide feedback on needed updates to electrical schematics

    Execute proactive maintenance plans on assigned equipment to include:

    + Preventive Maintenance (PM) - inspection & measurement of equipment components for proper function applying specifications, drawings, and written instruction on pre-defined schedules

    + Condition Maintenance (CM) – repair and replacement of components identified as requiring attention through PM & PdM activities based on detailed job plans, including the development of detailed job plans and ensuring any necessary updates to schematics are noted with updates requested to appropriate resources

     

    Install and repair electrical equipment. Must be knowledgeable

     

    in the principles and techniques commonly used in the electrical field, including programming, troubleshooting, PLC’s, inverters, and single loop controllers. Candidate must be able to provide training and guidance to technician-electrician II and III. Must be able to successfully perform all requirements of technician-electrician IV according to START program requirements.

     

    The candidate chosen for this position may be hired at an interim job title and interim pay rate if all training and testing requirements for the position have not been successfully completed prior to hire/placement.

    Responsibilities:

    Essential Functions:

    • Successful completion/execution of START Technician-Electrician IV training program or have verifiable experience

    • Receive project assignment from supervisor and respond to trouble calls from other

    departments

    • Troubleshoot relay logic

    • Draw and interpret schematics and compile documentation for complex projects

    • Projects must be completed in a safe and timely fashion

    • Interpret electrical and mechanical situations to determine process failure, needs, and

     

    improvements.

     

    • Write simple PLC program applications

    • Design, program, and troubleshoot simple PLC systems

    • Be able to effectively train technicians at all other levels to perform task successfully and safely

    • Consistent effort to stay current with new technology, equipment, and regulations

    • Maintain electrical operations for off-shift production systems – may require giving

    instructions via telephone conversations

    • Complete assignments in a timely fashion

    • Report to management any quality and safety problems and potential production problems that are encountered while performing the job

    • Perform all job duties in a safe manner without bodily injury to self or others

    • Perform all related job duties and other responsibilities assigned by supervisor or

    department manager

    • Learn and use Ariba procurement system to order parts and supplies related to job needs

    • Learn and use EZ Entry/TPM system to set up and receive work instructions

    Position Requirements:

    Knowledge/Skills:

    • Must be able to interpret electrical and mechanical situations to determine process failure, needs, and improvements

    • Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on equipment

    • Must be able to use test equipment including but not limited to DMM’s, amp meters, and megger meters

    • Must be able to design, install, repair, replace and maintain motors, drives, controls,

    starters, lights, power, communication, PLC, and other related systems

    • Know the practices, methods, tools, materials and equipment of the electrician’s trade

    • Know the hazards and safety precautions of all procedures

    • Know to diagnose and remedy maintenance problems

    • Knowledge of AC/DC drive programming

    • Knowledge of the National Electric Code

    • Knowledgeable in the use of DOS, Windows, RSLogix, RSLinks, and other supplied software

    • Knowledgeable of PID control

    • Knowledgeable of TMS system

    Non-Essential Requirements:

    • Work cooperatively with other electrician/maintenance employees

    • Must be able to work 8-12 hour shifts and overtime as necessary up to 7 days including the ability to give work instructions via telephone

    • Must have satisfactory work history as defined in pers onnel file

    • Must possess good communication skills, both written and oral to management and other electricians

    • Must attend shift first-day-back safety meetings

    • Must meet all requirements to drive/operate company vehicle on company business

    • Must comply with all company policies

    • Must attend all training/development as required by facility management

    • Must practice good housekeeping skills

    • Must abide by Company attendance policy

    • Must support PRIDE goals

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time

    • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry loads of up to 50 pounds without assistance

    • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, grasp and reach frequently

    • Must be able to work with hands/arms extended overhead

    • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders repeatedly

    • Must be able to work in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees for limited periods of time

    • Must be able to operate hand and power tools and equipment

    • Must be able to use/operate hand and power tools in areas of limited space

    • Must be able to work in elevated environment (ladders, lifts, baskets, etc.) for extended periods of time

    • Must be able to work in industrial environment with elevated noise levels, dust, dirt,

    humidity and temperature variations

    • Must be able to work outdoors as needed

    • Must be able to work on facility roofs as necessary

    • Must be able to work near moving electrical machine parts and near live electrical systems

    • Must successfully pass vision screen for color perception

    • Must participate in pre-shift stretching exercises

    Work Shift

    12 Hr rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Act Calendar, shift starts PM, days change only
