    Responsibilities

    The Director of Marketing and Communications – Mayo Clinic International is responsible for leading and executing innovative marketing and communications strategies that advance the business goals of Mayo Clinic International (MCI).

     

    This role will lead an integrated marketing and communications team focused on driving brand awareness, credibility, and audience engagement for Mayo Clinic outside the U.S. through compelling storytelling and strategic brand, sales and marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate has experience integrating marketing and communications to deliver a strong, consistent and effective message.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Strategic Planning & Execution

    + Develop and implement marketing and communications plans aligned with the overall business goals and objectives for MCI.

    + Tailor messaging and tactics to meet the unique needs MCI in key markets across the world including both B2C and B2B audiences.

    + Work collaboratively with the Mayo Clinic Platform marketing and communications team to identify opportunities to integrate messaging and storytelling so the two business units can show up internationally as one Mayo.

    + Stakeholder Engagement

    + Serve as the designated marketing and communications representative in key cross-functional and leadership meetings (specific forums to be defined).

    + Prepare clear, concise materials and updates for leadership presentations and executive reviews.

    + Ensure progress on the Mayo Clinic International team’s business objectives are communicated back internally to the Practice.

    + Campaigns, Initiatives & Events

    + Partner in planning and executing joint campaigns or initiatives related to patient lead generation, AI, Automation, and Business Development.

    + Collaborate with teams to develop a strategic plan for how MCI governs messaging and synchronizes campaigns to deliver a consistent voice across all channels (paid, owned, and earned).

    + Work with external agencies, consultants, or translators as needed

    + Develop a thoughtful approach to conference and event participation.

    + Reputation & Thought Leadership

    + Collaborate with Director of Enterprise Thought Leadership to identify and support thought leadership opportunities through articles, speaking engagements, and conferences.

    + Oversee social, blog, and media content for MCI.

    + Performance Measurement

    + Ensure deliverables and outcomes are consistently achieved through strong performance accountability, financial stewardship, and effective project management.

    + Track KPIs tied to MCI marketing goals, reporting on outcomes and suggesting strategic adjustments based on insights.

    + Maintain dashboards and performance reports for leadership visibility.

    + Provide ongoing insights and recommendations for message refinement and market penetration strategies.

    Qualifications

    Requires a master’s degree in a related field plus 5 years of relevant work experience; or a bachelor's degree in a related field plus 7 years of relevant work experience.

     

    Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate in a way that creates clarity, simplifies messages, and aligns with organizational strategy. Knowledge of channels for communication and the ability to build effective communication and engagement strategies.

     

    Must be a self-starter with the ability to independently identify opportunities, solutions and resolve challenges. Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful results. Requires an attitude that actively seeks out change, embraces critical questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement. Must understand how navigate ambiguity, and act without having the total picture. Adaptable and flexible. Demonstrated professionalism and ethics, with ability to earn credibility through integrity and transparency. Role model for service excellence. Motivates others by being present, engaged, attentive, invites diverse perspectives, demonstrates and inspires a collaborative spirit.

     

    Strong alignment with Mayo's core values. Relationship oriented, high performing individual with a strong balance of EQ and IQ. Demonstrates executive presence and servant leadership. Must possess strong leadership, business, analytical, oral and written communication, presentation skills, and superior interpersonal skills to facilitate effective relationships both within and outside of Mayo Clinic.

     

    Successful history of working effectively in a complex, matrixed and collaborative environment that expects and promotes teamwork. Strong strategic judgment. Ability to evaluate and improve upon existing processes and develop/implement new processes where appropriate. Must demonstrate ability to manage sensitive/confidential/proprietary information. Ability to work across an organization with excellent communication and customer service orientation. Ability to prioritize and communicate priorities in alignment with strategy.

    Preferred Experience:

    + 10 years of Marketing and Communications experience, including management of a team.

    + International Marketing and Communications experience

    + Understanding of the healthcare industry

    + Experience working with and managing agencies
