    Position Summary

    We are seeking passionate and skilled college and graduate students who look for opportunities to learn, to grow, and work alongside talented career mechanistic modelers (Pharmacometrics (PMx), Quantitative System Pharmacology (QSP), Model Based Meta-Analysis (MBMA), and Physiologically-based Pharmacokinetics (PBPK)). The Intern will work in BMS Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics (CP&P) Department with specific focus on mechanistic modeling projects, under the guidance of a scientist experienced in the development and improvement of models. Depending on the projects prioritized by the advisors and the department, the intern may have different specific goals. Potential projects include but are not limited to the assessment and development of methods for efficient characterization and prediction of small molecule absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and drug-drug interactions; development of new models for other modalities; or developing and parameterizing mini-models for other pathways and processes of interest as relevant for discovery, toxicology, and clinical efforts and incorporating them into a platform.

    The project can involve testing the functionality of the models in the context of different therapies and helping with data analysis to advance research and development programs. The project may also include hands-on pharmacometrics analysis and may include pharmacokinetic (PK) and exposure-response modeling of clinical data, and Model Based Meta-Analysis (MBMA).

    As part of the Bristol Myers Squibb Intern Program, the internship will have an opportunity to gain understanding of the drug development process through interactions with matrix drug development teams, as well as networking opportunities with other interns/BMS colleagues.

    The full-time internship will take place June - August 2026.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Work with an experienced employee(s) on a project applicable to one or more of the following:

    + Population Pharmacokinetic modeling

    + Exposure-Response modeling

    + Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic modeling

    + Machine Learning Initiatives in Pharmacometrics

    + Develop and parametrize mechanistic models using systems of ordinary differential equations

    + Present analyses results, typically as a scientific poster and at a meeting to a greater team of colleagues.

    + Calibrate parametrized mini-models using in-house data or data available in the public domain

    + Identify and determine physiological range of the most sensitive parameters

    + Incorporate pathway knowledge into platforms and test functionality with respect to existing therapies

    + Assist in the analysis of discovery, toxicology, and clinical data

    Tasks may include:

    + To prepare analysis datasets for pharmacometrics analysis of PK, biomarker, efficacy, and safety data;

    + To perform exploratory data analysis of PK, biomarker, efficacy, and safety data;

    + To develop pharmacometrics models to describe clinical observations of drug concentrations and biomarker/efficacy/safety responses;

    + To characterize the relationship between drug exposure and biomarker/efficacy/safety responses;

    + If needed, work closely and collaborate with other colleagues and subject matter experts;

    + Participate in the BMS Intern Program activities
