Overview
The Manager of Special Events and Sponsorships is responsible for the management and execution of New York Medical College’s (NYMC) premier fundraising, alumni, and donor engagement events. These include, but are not limited to, the annual Founder’s Dinner, Golf Classic, Alumni Reunion, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, alumni networking receptions, and donor recognition events. The manager will also cultivate and secure sponsorships from corporations, foundations, and local businesses to support and enhance NYMC’s event programming. This position is approximately 75% event management and 25% fundraising. It plays a vital role in advancing the College’s engagement and philanthropic goals by producing high-impact events and developing meaningful revenue-generating partnerships. Responsibilities
+ Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of NYMC’s signature events, ensuring exceptional quality and alignment with institutional goals.
+ Oversee event logistics including venue selection, vendor coordination, contract negotiation, catering, audio/visual, photography and video, guest experience, and décor.
+ Develop and manage event budgets, timelines, run-of-show materials, create programs, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective delivery.
+ Collaborate with the Office of Communications to produce event materials, including save-the-dates, invitations, email communications, and social media content.
+ Coordinate guest list management and RSVPs, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to maximize attendance and participation.
+ Represent NYMC at events, serving as on-site lead to ensure smooth operations and satisfaction.
+ Work closely with NYMC/Touro leadership, key faculty, and volunteer committees to encourage their participation in event programming and ensure their presence at institutional events.
+ Identify and solicit corporate and foundation sponsors for NYMC events; create sponsorship packages, proposals, and fulfillment plans.
+ Build and maintain a portfolio of corporate prospects; steward relationships to ensure long-term engagement and increased support.
+ Maintain accurate records of all sponsorship activity and event participation in the College’s fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge).
+ Collaborate with the entire Development and Alumni Relations team on donor and alumni engagement strategies as they relate to event participation and sponsorship.
+ Prepare post-event reports including sponsor fulfillment summaries, guest feedback, financials and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications
Education requirement:
+ Bachelor’s degree required.
Technical/computer skills:
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Raiser’s Edge or a similar CRM database preferred.
Prior experience:
+ Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in event planning and/or fundraising, preferably in higher education, healthcare, or the nonprofit sector.
+ Demonstrated experience securing and managing corporate sponsorships and donor relations.
+ Proven success planning and executing high-profile events with 300+ attendees.
Other skills/requirements:
+ Excellent project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
+ Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including comfort in making presentations and engaging with corporate representatives and senior leaders.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
+ Availability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
+ Knowledge of the Westchester/New York metropolitan corporate and philanthropic community.
+ Experience with digital and hybrid events is a plus.
Minimum Salary
USD $68,000.00/Yr.
Maximum Salary
USD $85,000.00/Yr.
