    Work location: Texas Health Ft. Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., Ft. Worth, TX 76104

     

    Work hours: Monday-Friday 7:30-1800p; rotating days off; this provides a four (4) day weekend every five (5) weeks.

     

    On-call is required but it is self-scheduled. You must be within thirty (30) minutes of the hospital.

     

    On call requirements include two (2) primary weeks and two (2) backup weeks within a thirteen (13) week cycle.

     

    Department highlights: Our experienced and compassionate team in Interventional Radiology care for patients with Cardiac, Peripheral Vascular or Electrophysiology related disease. For our clinical staff, we require a 30-minute call response time which includes STEMI call.

     

    We are a Magnet designated facility, Joint Commission certified in chest pain, heart failure and stroke, certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Texas Ten Step Member Mother Friendly Worksite.

     

    Interventional Radiology (IR) is a medical specialty where various minimally invasive procedures are performed using medical imaging guidance such as x-ray, MRI, or ultrasound. These procedures might be for biopsy, diagnosis, or intervention. THFW IR supports 5 IR suites and works directly with our Radiology care unit that takes care of our patients pre and post procedure.

     

    The Interventional Radiology Technologist functions independently as a member of the Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR), Neuro Endovascular Radiology team. Direct care team members include a registered nurse, a scrub (Rad Tech or RN), physician assistant if needed, as well as the physicians performing the procedure. This individual is responsible for helping perform a variety of complex specialized tasks including but not limited to operating fluoroscopy, computed tomography, laser, and ultrasonography equipment during vascular and neuroradiology angiographic and interventional procedures, assisting in positioning patients safely and accurately to ensure high quality interpretation, sterile technique, and post processing of the images taken during the case. The ability to self-direct and to organize a varied workload is required.

     

    The IR rad tech can act in both the shooting of case and the scrub roles. Duties for this position include but are not limited to radiation safety, patient teaching, assisting with patient care within scope of practice for ages ranging from newborn to geriatric, preparing sterile supply trays, passing guidewires and catheters, passing sterile supplies and instruments during the procedure, inventory management and schedule coordination. This position requires the individual to be flexible in their work schedule. The schedule in this department is four 10-hour shifts with rotating days off. This allows for a four-day weekend every five weeks. This is individual will be responsible for taking an allotted number of self-assigned primary and back up call dates and must be available and able to work on those dates. Previous IR radiology technician work experience is preferred. ARRT and BLS certifications are required.

     

    Here's what you need

    Education:

    Associate Degree in Applied Science required or

     

    Completion of an accredited program in radiologic or cardiovascular technology required or

     

    High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years' work experience in invasive cardiology required

    Experience:

    One (1) year vascular or cardiac angiography experience preferred

     

    Two (2) years' experience with high school diploma required

    Licensure and Certifications:

    ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists upon hire required and

     

    GMRT-General Medical Radiologic Technologist if ARRT only upon hire preferred or

     

    RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (Obtain within 6 months if graduate from Cardiovascular Accredited Program) upon hire required and

     

    LMRT - Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist if RCIS Only upon hire preferred or

     

    RCES - Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (For Electrophysiology Labs (EP) only) upon hire required and

     

    BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly) required and

     

    ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required

     

    What You Will Do

     

    Texas Health Interventional Radiology Technologists are responsible for assessing and recognizing the patient's emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions.
