We have the perfect opportunity for you to showcase your skills and put your education and experience to use! **Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine** is seeking applicants for an **Inpatient Veterinary Technician** to work in the Intermediate Care (IMC ), Intensive Care Unit (ICU ), and Emergency Room (ER) section of our **Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital** . The individual in this position will work directly with theIMC clinicians and rotating intern doctors to help facilitate quality care and patient flow through theIMC ,ICU , and ER.
This is a monthly rotating swing shift position.
Mon – Thurs 4:00 pm – 2:00 am; Fri – Sun 1:00 pm – 2:00 am

Essential Functions
+ Assists with administering treatments and monitoring patients admitted inIMC orICU , observes and records vital data, abnormal signs, body weight, food/water intake of animals, and collects and labels specimens and perform treatments and administer medications as prescribed by primary veterinarian.
+ Performs and demonstrates veterinary care techniques and procedures related to emergency and critical care medicine.
+ Assists veterinarians in the care of patients requiring advanced procedures and life-saving techniques includingCPR , mechanical ventilation and dialysis. Inspects facilities, equipment, and supplies daily, as well as observes health status of animals , environmental conditions , temperature , and sanitation.
+ Perform job duties with speed and accuracy and work as essential personnel, providing care for patients after hours, on weekends and holidays.
+ Assists with emergency triage and stabilization of patients presenting through the Emergency service.
+ May be responsible for, or assist in, billing clients, inputting charges, and/or similar tasks.
+ This position will work to provide care for patients after hours, on weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications
Depending upon a combination of education and experience, the finalist selected for this position will be hired as a Veterinary Technician – Inpatient and assigned levels I, II, orIII .
**Level I:** Requires an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain certification.
**Level II:** Requires an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain certification plus 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.
**LevelIII :** Requires an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain certification plus 4 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.
Graduate degrees may be accepted in lieu of experience.

+ Active license with the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Technician, **OR**
