Scott-Ritchey Research Center (https://www.vetmed.auburn.edu/research/scott-ritchey-research-center/) at **Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine** seeks applicants to fill 3 vacant positions in research. Depending upon education and experience, the selected finalists will fill position titles Research Assistant, Research Associate, or Research Fellow.
Research Assistant I/II/II/IV:
Assists researchers in planning, maintaining or completing research programs and/or projects involved in the discovery of new knowledge, techniques, and concepts which require fundamental scientific/research knowledge, skills and abilities following relevant policies, procedures, regulations and laws.
Research Associate I/II/II/IV:
Assists researchers in planning, maintaining or completing research programs and/or projects involved in the discovery of new knowledge, techniques, and concepts which require advanced level scientific/research knowledge, skills and abilities following relevant policies, procedures, regulations and laws.
Research Fellow I/II/II/IV:
Assists in others’ and conducts original research to include planning, maintaining or completing research programs and/or projects involved in the discovery of new knowledge, techniques, and concepts which require advanced level scientific/research knowledge, skills and abilities following relevant policies, procedures, regulations and laws.
Essential Functions
Research Assistant I/II/II/IV:
Assists in the development of project proposals, plans and protocols. Conducts routine or fundamental experiments, investigations and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts. Assists with logistical considerations to include equipment, materials, and labor needs. Collects data/samples related to others’ research and in routine cases. Records, compiles, processes and analyzes data/samples. Documents results and observations in writing as well as presenting results to others. May assist in the preparation of research results for publication or presentation at conferences to include assisting in literature reviews and assisting in the writing of results and discussions. May instruct students and/or supervise others’ research in area of expertise.
Research Associate I/II/II/IV:
Develops or assists in the development of complex project proposals, plans, and protocols. Conducts non-routine experiments, investigations and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts. Coordinates or assists logistics of research to include equipment, materials, and labor needs. Collects data/samples related to others’ research and in complex cases. Records, compiles, processes and analyzes data/samples. Documents results and observations in writing as well as presenting results to others. May prepare research results for publication or presentation at conferences to include performing literature reviews and writing results and discussions. May instruct students and/or supervise others’ research in area of expertise. May maintain project budgets and/or coordinate funding.
Research Fellow I/II/II/IV:
Develops original project proposals, research designs, plans and protocols and assists in the development of complex project proposals, plans and protocols. Designs and/or conducts complex experiments, investigations and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts. Coordinates or assists with logistics of research to include equipment, materials, and labor needs. Collects data/samples related to own research as well as others’ research and in complex cases. Records, compiles, processes and analyzes data/samples. Documents results and observations in writing as well as presenting results to others. May prepare research results for publication or presentation at conferences to include performing literature reviews and writing results and discussions. May serve as an instructor and/or supervisor to other researchers and students in area of expertise. May provide consulting to third party organizations related to research activities. May maintain projects and/or coordinate funding.

Minimum Qualifications
Depending upon the combination of education and experience, the selected finalist will be hired into position titles Research Assistant, Research Associate, or Research Fellow and assigned levels I – IV. Salary depends upon title and level the finalist qualifies for.
Research Assistant I/II/II/IV:
Possesses advanced knowledge in the field of research, and has working knowledge of equipment, materials and processes related to lab/facility operations, including procedures for observation, documentation and collection, analysis and presentation of data.
Bachelor’s degree in specific area of research and 0-6 years of experience in research practices and protocols. When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Research Associate I/II/II/IV:
Possesses general knowledge in the field of research, and has working knowledge of equipment, materials and processes related to lab/facility operations, including procedures for observation, documentation and data collection.
Master’s degree in specific area of research and 0-6 years of experience in research practices and protocols. When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Research Fellow I/II/II/IV:
Possesses highly advanced knowledge in the field of research and the design of experiments, and has broad expert knowledge of a wide range of complex equipment, materials and processes related to research planning, funding and operations. possesses mastery of knowledge and skill related to design of research and the recording, analysis, presentation and publication of research findings. Ability to supervise and instruct others in field of research.
PhD in specific area of research and 0-6 years of experience in research practices and protocols.
