    Join the Park Authority and our nationally recognized team of professionals! This position works as a part of one of the most highly regarded park systems in the country. With more than 24,000 acres of parkland, nine Rec Centers, eight golf courses, three lakefront parks, and more, FCPA is an exciting organization to be a part of and there are many opportunities for staff to make a difference at every level.

     

    This position works in the director’s office and reports to the chief strategist. Supports the Park Authority Board along with a variety of other projects. Provides logistical, technical, and administrative support for Park Authority Board meetings and events. Reviews Park Authority Board items for accuracy and creates and distributes agendas and packages to attendees and the public. Manages all technology components for in-person and virtual board meetings. Serves as BAC liaison to the County Clerk’s Office. Ensures compliance with VA Code during open and closed Park Authority Board meetings. Serves as Central Friends Group coordinator. Manages annual meeting of friends groups and other park advocacy allies. Manages establishment of memorandums of understanding with friends groups and other partner organizations.

     

    Leads agency’s Volunteer Management Team (VMT). Coordinates regular meetings of VMT, manages agency’s volunteer email inbox, manages regular review of volunteer management manual, coordinates with county volunteer staff. Manages agency’s administration of county’s Outstanding Performance Award program. Leads policy manual review process and coordinates updating of agency’s policies as needed. Assists in coordination of CAPRA accreditation process. Supports and facilitates contributions to the county’s legislative program. This position will maintain flexibility to take on additional projects and duties as priorities emerge, such as strategic planning support, public engagement, logistics for trainings, meetings, and events, benchmarking research, preparing presentations and more. Must have a strong attention to detail, be a fast learner, be comfortable with managing technology, and be able to function at a high level in a fast-paced environment. This position will require attendance at evening meetings and occasional weekend events.

     

    Note: The assigned functional areas of this position are general executive assistance, compliance, logistics, project management, and policy creation.

    Illustrative Duties

    + Performs a wide range of professional work in multiple administration functions within an organizational unit including analysis and project management;

    + May supervise administrative and paraprofessional staff;

    + Performs a variety of technical and professional work related to monitoring and reporting on departmental business processes, activities, and outcomes;

    + Plans, develops, and implements comprehensive communication and education plans on programs and services for both county agencies and community organizations;

    + Assists with developing and conducting special studies and research initiatives, by designing survey instruments, gathering data and information from department staff, developing data analysis tools, conducting statistical analyses, initiating literature reviews, etc.;

    + Conducts analysis and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data in order to track and monitor various business process indicators;

    + Serves as the point-person and liaison within the department and with central county

    + departments regarding a designated program and functional areas of responsibility;

    + Prepares reports and presentations of analysis and findings.

    + Ability to use word processing and presentation software to prepare documents, and to use spreadsheet and statistical analysis software packages to store, manipulate, analyze, and present data;

    + Ability to train, lead, and/or supervise paraprofessional staff.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus, two years of professional work experience within the functional area.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Functional experience in these areas: management of professional meetings, communication, general administration, editing, use of information systems and software applications, and report creation.

    + Strong communication skills to effectively present information and work within cross-functional teams.

    + Excellent organization and project management skills.

    + Experience managing virtual and hybrid meetings, including the technology support, for large and small teams and audiences.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The appointee to the position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
