    JOB PURPOSE:

    Manage the operations, communications, and activities of the Institution’s Board of Overseers, in coordination with the Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Initiatives, including board meetings, committee meetings, major donor events, and other board affairs under minimal supervision. Manage board relations programs and support the Hoover 1919 Society, advancing the engagement of board members, board prospects, and major donors, deepening their relationship with the Institution, its research and its mission.

    CORE DUTIES*:

    + Lead the planning and operations for Board Meetings, committee meetings, donor retreats, and other programs and priorities of the Director's Office in relation to the goals and objectives of the Board of Overseers; Business, supervisory, and managerial expertise required.

    + Evaluate events, meetings and programs, as well as policies and procedures to ensure commitment to and success of board relations objectives. Identify opportunities and challenges to enhance delivery of Board activities, and work with stakeholders to develop solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures.

    + Review and analyze results of Board relations activities to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the programs; report results to internal and external constituencies as applicable.

    + Represent the Director’s Office on board affairs operations with internal and external stakeholders, providing information and support as needed.

    + Manage and contribute to the development of outreach and communications strategies in partnership with internal stakeholders.

    + Develop and/or oversee budgets in collaboration with the Director's Office and the Finance teams; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting.

    + Steward nominations process, including managing the working list, requesting reputational reviews, and preparing submissions to Stanford University’s Board of Trustees.

    + Cultivate influential stakeholder networks through the design and delivery of programs and events that deepen engagement and create enduring strategic partnerships.

    + May direct and/or supervise staff.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education & Experience:

    Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.

    + Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.

    + Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment and, decision-making skills.

    + Demonstrated ability to develop and meet budget goals.

    + Demonstrated solid planning and organizational skills.

    + Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.

    + Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

    + Strong relevant subject matter knowledge.

    + Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

    + Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

    + Frequently sitting.

    + Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

    + Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    The expected pay range for this position is $120,028 to $153,486 per annum.

     

    Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
