    Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to perform engineering duties in the planning and designing of tools, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. The role involves overseeing installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment. You will be responsible for creating and revising processes and process controls as well as quality and quality instrumentation.

    Responsibilities

    + Interpret and analyze blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

    + Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.

    + Analyze production line characteristics to improve production rate and reduce scrap rate, developing countermeasure activities to meet business goals.

    + Research and evaluate customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data for feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.

    + Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.

    + Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes, applying engineering principles.

    + Diagnose equipment failures and recommend solutions to the maintenance crew.

    + Utilize drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.

    + Provide feedback to design engineers on customer issues and needs.

    + Supervise installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure machines and equipment function correctly.

    + Conduct research to test and analyze the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of equipment, components, and systems.

    + Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.

    + Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating conditions, potential new applications, and the need for modification.

    + Coordinate and monitor all aspects of production, including manufacturing methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs.

    + Estimate costs and submit engineering countermeasure activities for part cost gaps and prepare documentation.

    + Supervise production workers, technicians, technologists, and other engineers, and design evaluation programs.

    + Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures, service schedules, and supply materials to maintain machines and equipment.

    + Study industrial processes to determine the application of equipment.

    + Apply engineering principles to emerging fields such as robotics and waste management.

    + Recommend corrective actions using quality tools for items with a negative gap.

    + Achieve company and department business plans for Health and Safety Goals.

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum of 5 years of CNC experience.

    + Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience on CNC machinery.

    + Minimum of 5 years of mechanical and electrical experience.

    + Experience with industrial maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in welding and fabrication is required.

    + Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred.

    + Familiarity with ProE and CATIA is advantageous.

    Work Environment

     

    This position supports the machining side of a Tier 1 automotive manufacturer in a non-union, multi-craft environment. Work hours are typically from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime and weekend work. The environment is a bit dirty due to the foundry setting.     This is a Permanent position based out of Coldwater, Michigan.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $65520.00 - $65520.00/yr.
