Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Perform complex and routine activities for operation and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and animal care support systems. Diagnose equipment and system failures, providing corrective actions and recommendations. Develop and evaluate performance and reliability of test equipment, determining types and number of tests to be performed. Recommend modifications to testing equipment and analyze results. Use blueprints, sketches, and schematics to instruct laboratory support staff in construction and modification techniques. Develop time and cost estimates, material requirements, and methodology, while also ordering materials and supplies. Set up and operate machinery, hand and power tools, and other equipment for the fabrication, testing, and modification of instruments, equipment, components, and systems.
Responsibilities
+ Perform operation and maintenance of complex machinery, equipment, and instruments.
+ Diagnose equipment and system failures, providing corrective actions and recommendations.
+ Develop and evaluate performance and reliability of test equipment.
+ Use blueprints, sketches, and schematics for construction and modification.
+ Instruct laboratory support staff in construction and modification techniques.
+ Develop time and cost estimates, material requirements, and methodology.
+ Set up and operate machinery, hand and power tools, and other equipment for fabrication, testing, and modification.
Essential Skills
+ Experience and knowledge in operation and maintenance of complex machinery, equipment, and instruments.
+ Knowledge of electronics, including PLC, hydraulics, pneumatics, and robotics.
+ Ability to troubleshoot production equipment.
+ Electrical, mechanical, repair, and service skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Well-developed interpersonal and problem-solving skills; proven experience working with a team.
+ Accuracy, reliability, and good attention to detail.
+ Good math and analytic skills.
+ Proficiency in computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word).
+ Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Work Environment
This position requires close work with laboratory animals. The environment contains allergens associated with those animals and may pose a zoonotic disease transmission hazard. You will use industrial and sterilizing equipment, work in high noise areas that may require hearing protection, and be exposed to wet, slippery work surfaces.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Haven, Connecticut.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.05 - $31.05/hr.
