Job Title: Mechanical TechnicianJob Description
As a Mechanical Technician, you will perform work using assembly drawings, shop aids, schematics, and detailed work instructions. You must be capable of understanding and working from engineering drawings and sketches, and be able to follow both written and verbal work instructions. You should be willing to work additional hours when required, including weekends.
Responsibilities
+ Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive developmental assembly operations of electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies on ordnance systems.
+ Assist mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electro-mechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies, and components.
+ Fabricate mechanical and electrical parts from sketches/drawings and prepare samples for testing.
+ Operate equipment necessary to fulfill these duties.
+ Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2+ years of experience in prototype builds.
+ Minimum of 2+ years of experience in machine building working off prints.
+ Minimum of 2+ years of experience working in an engineering product development, test, or production environment.
+ Understanding of 3D CAD software, test equipment, mechanical assembly, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
+ Troubleshooting and repair skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Proficient use of complex fabrication equipment.
+ Ability to fabricate and assemble to precise tolerances and standards.
+ Capability to understand complex engineering drawings and information.
+ Experience in assisting engineers in the design and development of new systems and equipment.
+ Ability to develop and prepare schematics, design specifications, and parts lists, or make recommendations regarding these items.
+ Review designs and specifications of test equipment or tools for adequacy.
+ Experience conducting tests or experiments that require selection, set-up, operation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide variety of equipment.
+ Experience in troubleshooting electronic, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
+ Ability to determine engineering/test data to be collected, extract information, and perform calculations to analyze test data.
+ Experience in creating test procedures, conducting tests, recording data, analyzing data, and writing reports.
Work Environment
This role is based in an engineering lab where you will use various technologies and equipment to complete your tasks.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
