    Job Description:

    Performs skilled craftsman work related to the maintenance repairer, carpentry, and locksmithing trade. Responsible for supervision of four maintenance repairer masters, a carpenter master, and three locksmith employees. Also responsible for special projects within the maintenance, carpentry, painting/plaster, sheet metal/roofing, and locksmithing trades. Communicates with external contractors in relation to the technical aspects of construction projects.

    Job Duties

    Directs and supervises the day to day operations of maintenance repairer, carpenter, and lock shop personnel. Checks the FAMIS work order system for new work requests. Prioritizes the requests and assign them to the appropriate personnel. Once the work is complete, the work requests will be closed with verifying comments. Maintain accurate record of University keys and locks. Verifies the accuracy of the SimpleK database and puts forth a continuous effort to expand the system-25%

     

    Trains and inspects work of lower level employees. Purchases and maintains lock shop and maintenance supplies to ensure the success of the Architectural Systems department. Communicates regularly with lower level employees to ensure they have all materials and resources required for them to be successful. Performs normal supervisory administrative duties such as preparing time-sheets, approving applications for leave, initiates disciplinary actions, etc.-25%

     

    Supervises and works on special projects as assigned by Maintenance Managers or Directors. These projects may include the supervision of other trade craftsmen outside of the maintenance repairer, carpentry, and locksmith team. These special projects could include such tasks as emergency work, game day preparation, total building Preventative Maintenance surveys, building re-key projects, etc.-25%

     

    Perform skilled craftsman work related to architectural repair requests. Work responsibilities shall include preventative maintenance, carpentry, painting, plasterwork, sheet-metal, roofing, locksmithing, door/window installs, pest/nuisance calls, emergency work, special requests.-20%

     

    Works with building coordinators, administrators, managers, customer service center and other crafts involved in maintenance and construction projects. Ensures the accuracy of all technical keying aspects with both external and internal projects. Estimates material, cost and time required to complete work assignments. Verifies the accuracy of installs after construction projects are completed.-5%

     

    Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:

    Four years of experience in the building construction trades; maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; building construction; building maintenance; or construction, maintenance, or repair of roads or bridges; OR

     

    Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trades; maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; building construction; building maintenance; or construction, maintenance, or repair of roads or bridges; OR

     

    Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, engineering, or any combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the building construction trades; maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; building construction; building maintenance; or construction, maintenance, or repair of roads or bridges.

    Special or Physical Qualifications:

    + Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.

    + This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

    + This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

    + This position is considered emergency essential and may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.

    + Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, stoop, squat, kneel and bend their back, climb ladders, and work reaching overhead. This position will require a physical evaluation based on the physical demands required.
