    Summary

    STP’s Instrumentation & Control Internship Program is designed for students who want to gain practical experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of plant systems within a nuclear power plant. The program offers exposure to electrical maintenance tasks, equipment calibration, and system optimization, providing students with the hands-on experience required to maintain plant electrical systems and enhance plant reliability.

    Responsibilities

    The I&C Intern will support the maintenance and reliability team in ensuring accurate measurement, monitoring, and control of plant processes. Under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers, the intern will assist with calibration, troubleshooting, and documentation of instrumentation and control systems.

    Responsibilities will include:

    + Assist with calibration, testing, and maintenance of instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, etc.).

    + Support troubleshooting of control systems, wiring, and instrumentation issues.

    + Learn to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and loop sheets.

    + Participate in preventive maintenance activities and plant reliability checks.

    + Document calibration data, maintenance activities, and test results.

    + Follow all plant safety standards and procedures.

    Requirements

    + Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.

    + U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

    + Currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year institution pursuing a degree or technical training in Instrumentation, Electrical, Controls, or related field.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

    + Basic understanding of electrical maintenance practices, troubleshooting techniques, and safety protocols.

    + Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety in all tasks.

    + Must be in good academic standing with your school.
