    Job Summary

    The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan invite applications for LEO Lecturer I for Psychology discussion or lab sections position up to 100% effort for the Winter 2026 term. Discussion/Lab section instructors work under the supervision of the lead instructor for the course, who determines the content and often designs the lesson plans for discussion/lab sections. This appointment is scheduled to begin on 1/1/2026 and end on 4/30/2026.

     

    Based on the courses, this position could teach 2-6 discussion or lab sections per week for the Winter 2026 term, for no more than two separate course preps (or the equivalent of two courses).

    Responsibilities*

    Duties of these LEO Lecturer I positions are expected to include but are not limited to the following: attend weekly course lectures given by the lead course instructor, teach, evaluate and grade students, respond to student emails in timely manner, hold regularly scheduled office hours, hold review sessions, proctor exams, attend weekly team meetings with the course?s lead instructor and other discussion/lab section leaders. All teaching and meeting components are in-person.

    Psych 342 Research Methods in Human Electroencephalography - Lab sections

    Psych 303 Research Methods in Psychology - Lab sections. Because Psych 303 meets the Upper Level Writing Requirement in LSA, section instructors must have previously taken or concurrently take (audit) the 1-credit course, WRITING 993: Teaching Writing in the Disciplines.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Graduate degree in Psychology or a closely related field (Neuroscience, Cognitive Science)

    + Experience teaching courses in Psychology and related natural and social sciences

     

    The selection criteria used for this search is based on how the applicant's education and experience meets the required minimum qualifications for the position. Excellence in teaching and instruction will be the principal criteria used to select the successful candidate.

    Desired Qualifications*

    Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching in the United States.

    This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
