Overview
The SVP, Director of Business Affairs is a strategic leader who drives drive innovation in business affairs practices, ensures legal and regulatory compliance, and serves as a key advisor on complex talent, intellectual property, and production matters. This person has deep industry expertise, exceptional negotiation skills, and a proven track record of building high-performing teams in dynamic, creative environments.
Responsibilities
+ Lead, mentor, and scale a team of Directors and Managers across multiple offices and disciplines
+ Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the Business Affairs team
+ Champion innovation in business affairs processes, tools, and partnerships to support evolving creative and production models
+ Represent the agency in high-level industry forums, union negotiations, and regulatory discussions
+ Act as the senior point of contact for clients on all business affairs matters, including talent, music, and IP negotiations
+ Partner with client leadership, legal, and procurement teams to align on risk tolerance, compliance, and strategic opportunities
+ Oversee the development and implementation of scalable business affairs processes and systems
+ Ensure compliance with union agreements (e.g., SAG-AFTRA, AFM), employment laws, and advertising regulations
+ Lead the strategic adoption of AI technologies across creative and production teams, driving innovation, optimizing workflows, and ensuring responsible, forward- thinking use of emerging tools in storytelling and campaign development
Creative & Production
+ Collaborate with creative, production, and strategy leads to proactively identify and mitigate legal and business risks
+ Lead complex negotiations involving celebrity talent, music rights, content licensing, and intellectual property
+ Provide strategic oversight on all creative materials to ensure compliance with advertising regulations, rights of publicity, and third-party IP usage
+ Advise on the evolving production landscape, including union regulations, employment guidelines, and best practices
+ Review and approve vendor agreements, ensuring alignment with client SOWs, MSAs, and agency policies
+ Guide internal and client teams through the legal implications of emerging media platforms, social content, and experiential activations
Managerial Responsibilities
+ Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff
+ Oversees the daily workflow of the team
+ Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
+ Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
Qualifications
+ Extensive experience in business affairs, legal, or production roles within advertising, media, or entertainment
+ Proven leadership of large, multi-disciplinary teams and oversight of enterprise- level operations
+ Deep expertise in union contracts, talent negotiations, music licensing, and IP law
+ Strong relationships with talent agencies, music publishers, studios, and legal counterparts
+ Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive presence
Location & Commitments
+ Full-time role, currently hybrid status
+ In-person/in-office minimum of 3 days per week
Physical Demands
+ Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Compensation Range: $176,700 - $288,765 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
