Job Summary and Qualifications

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Transporter is responsible for coordinating with a variety of medical professionals to take patients from their rooms to various locations for X-rays, scans, surgery and other medical tests or procedures. This can mean helping patients in and out of bed, or using wheelchairs, stretchers and medical transport vans to get them from the emergency room to a room, from one room to another, or down to the lobby for checkout. In addition, they may also assist with room preparation and cleaning.

SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Transport patients.

+ Read and respond to iMobile messages promptly.

+ Prioritize transport requests based on workflow using TeleTracking.

+ Ensure proper assignment coverages.

+ De-escalate units’ priority needs using critical thinking.

+ Communicate workflow barrier to Transport Manager.

+ Conduct daily huddles to communicate:

+ Safety issues

+ Productivity

+ Recognitions (Every Wednesdays)

+ Transporter feedbacks

+ Ensure transporter compliance with departmental benchmark:

+ Dispatched – In Progress: <=10 minutes

+ In Progress – Complete: <= 10 minutes

+ Delays: <= 10 minutes

+ Ensure transporters meet the departmental goal of 2.0 patient per hour. Communicate barriers.

+ Address transporters for any non-compliance of benchmark and goal.

+ Report issues and resolution suggestions to Transport Manager.

+ End-of-shift hand-off with the next shift Lead.

+ Welcome all other tasks when assigned and completes them in a timely manner.

Requirements:

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

+ High School Graduate / GED
