    Role Overview

     

    As a **Genetic Counseling Assistant** , you will provide essential administrative and patient support to BayCare’s Genetic Counseling team. You will coordinate appointments, manage referrals, and assist with pre-authorization and medical record collection. This role also supports patients directly by handling inquiries, facilitating follow-up, and assisting with documentation and testing workflows. Strong communication skills and knowledge of medical terminology are key to success in this role.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Support the Genetic Counselor with administrative and patient care tasks.

    + Schedule and confirm patient appointments, manage referrals, and coordinate follow-up.

    + Obtain patient consent, records, testing information, and insurance pre-authorization.

    + Assist patients with inquiries, follow-up communications, and escorting when applicable.

    + Enter patient data and results into tracking systems and databases.

    + Complete testing order entry and prepare documents for EMR scanning.

    + Collaborate with counselors, clinicians, and patients to facilitate clear communication and smooth clinic operations.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • **Education**

    + **Required:** High School Diploma or GED

    + **Preferred:** Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field

    • **Experience**

    + **Required:** 1 year related experience (may substitute for Bachelor’s degree)

    + **Preferred:** 1 year healthcare or medically related experience
