Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a part-time Office Technician to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team in our Grand Rapids office! The expected hours will be approximately 20-30 per week.
Our construction professionals have extensive on-the-job experience in supervision, observation, safety oversight and inspection with ongoing training that ensures required daily schedules are adhered to and all materials are procured and constructed according to plans and specifications. We work with our clients to achieve the optimum value, schedule, and project quality for highway construction, single and multi-span bridges, intersection, and traffic signal improvements, site developments, and condition assessment and asset inventory.
Responsibilities
+ Create project records and compile daily reports.
+ Maintain project records (correspondence, change orders, meeting minutes, material certificates, quantities of work, EEO, and payroll records, etc.).
+ Collect data and review calculations and material certifications.
+ Process pay estimates for contractors.
+ Ensure project compliance with government regulations, such as checking EEO reports, to ensure project employment meets women and minority requirements and verifying pre-vailing wage rates.
+ Process change orders and work with project/design engineer to resolve issues.
+ Obtain and maintain the required certifications for each project as needed (i.e. Traffic Control, Material Testing, Paint or Weld Inspection).
+ Serve as the go-to person relating to electronic signatures, ProjectWise file locations, data management.
+ May perform construction inspector duties as needed.
+ Establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, support and build others on the team and across disciplines/offices.
+ Be responsive to others and share information to improve efficiency and help others achieve goals; listen and engage in productive and critical debate.
+ Suggest new ideas and processes; stay informed of developments in practice areas; view obstacles as opportunities.
Qualifications
+ Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering technology or related field preferred.
+ 3+ years of experience as an Office Technician, Construction Inspector, or related field required.
+ Prior experience with Field Book required; AASHTOWare software experience is a plus.
+ Possess Computerized Office Technician Certificate or obtain within 1 year.
+ Possess certificate in bituminous (hot mix), concrete, density testing, or aggregate gradation preferred.
+ MDOT Prevailing Wage Training and MDOT Materials Acceptance class are preferred.
+ Ability to perform calculations and solve math problems.
+ Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
+ Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
