**Hybrid** This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center **three times per week, at minimum.** This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate

**The Role** - As a Buyer you will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in the development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and collaborate with suppliers or internal partners. The work is of a sophisticated nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and judgment.

Responsibilities:

+ You will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services.

+ Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders.

+ Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.

+ Partner with Program Managers to represent purchasing and communicate program requirements/vehicle line overview.

+ Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

+ 2+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics, or product development

+ Experience with commodities required

+ High level of capability to work independently

+ Highly proficient oral and written communication skills

+ High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex

+ Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally

+ Negotiation skills

+ Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time

+ Capable of interpreting contracts

+ Demonstrated global business skills

+ Ability to travel 5—10% travel

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

+ Cost analysis, or manufacturing experience

+ Automotive industry experience

+ Knowledge of materials management

+ Capable of interpreting market data

+ Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents

+ Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes

+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, related field, or equivalent work experience

Preferred:

+ Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related advanced degree a plus
