    The Senior Accountant – Fixed Asset & Lease is responsible for supporting the company’s fixed asset accounting processes and lease accounting in accordance with ASC-842. This role collaborates cross-functionally with business unit leadership to ensure accurate accounting for assets and leases.

     

    The candidate will conduct the monthly accounting close processes, periodic transaction research and financial analysis for various domestic and foreign subsidiaries of UL Solutions.

     

    The position reports to the Senior Manager of Accounting – Construction and Leases, based at our Northbrook Headquarters, with flexibility to work from our Chicago office. This is a hybrid role, requiring on-site presence three days per week.

     

    + Partner with project managers and asset owners to monitor capital project activity and ensure timely capitalization of Construction in Progress (CIP).

    + Assist in organizing and ensuring all cycle counts have been performed in accordance with the accounting policy

    + Prepare and post journal entries related to asset additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.

    + Perform monthly reconciliations of the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger.

    + Ensure the fixed asset subledger is up-to-date and reflects all relevant transactions and adjustments.

    + Analyze fluctuations in fixed asset balances and depreciation expense, providing explanations and insights to management.

    + Assist with the accounting and reporting of leases under ASC 842, including validation and maintenance of lease schedules.

    + Support monthly lease-related journal entries and perform reconciliations of lease liabilities and right-of-use assets.

    + Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure lease data accuracy and completeness.

    + Maintain supporting documentation and schedules in compliance with SOX requirements. Support both internal and external audits by providing requested materials and actively participating in walkthroughs and testing with auditors and internal stakeholders.

    + Contribute to various accounting and finance initiatives, including system implementations, process improvements, and other special projects as assigned.

    + Bachelor’s degree in accounting required

    + Minimum 3 years of total accounting experience

    + Knowledge of ERP and Fixed Asset Module systems; Oracle preferred

    + Knowledge of leasing software; LeaseCalc preferred

    + Experience with improvement initiatives and enhancements

    + Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams

    + Strong GAAP knowledge, analytical, and problem-solving skills

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    + CPA certification preferred

     

    Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
