Job Summary:
The Regulatory Engineer will be responsible for ensuring products and processes are compliant with industry regulations and safety standards by researching requirements, providing guidance on design and risk management, and managing compliance documentation and audits.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Provide assistance in overseeing and conducting testing/certification of protective clothing and equipment products to national and international standards.
+ Work within company laboratory to prepare samples, conduct testing, and document results.
+ Work with outside laboratories and suppliers for obtaining quotes, scheduling testing, gathering and sending samples, reviewing testing results, and approving invoices.
+ Work closely with Engineering, Product Managers and Marketing/Sales to carry out product evaluations to support new product development, provide competitive analyses, and address quality issues.
+ Assist company manufacturing and quality programs with problem solving for certification related issues of existing and new products.
+ Renew, maintain and ensure laboratory accreditation to ISO 17025.
+ Assure all quality criteria are met in accordance with ISO 9001.
+ Complete standard work layered audits.
+ Quality control and inspection development along with monitoring.
+ Supports and coaches problem-solving techniques.
+ Provides quality data collection and methods.
+ Ensures test results are monitored and tracked for compliance and performance capability.
+ Provide quality data collection and summary of lab test results.
+ Understands the use of test equipment and measurement tools while maintaining function and calibration.
+ Ability to lead and/or assist in 3rd party lab audits.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in laboratory testing.
+ Good computer skills, including Microsoft applications and good keyboarding skills.
+ Good organizational skills.
+ General understanding of materials – textiles, plastics, rubbers.
+ Ability to troubleshoot electronic and mechanical equipment.
+ Knowledge of clothing, helmet, gloves, and footwear, or related product manufacturing is desired, but not required.
+ Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma tools, techniques and processes is desired but not required.
+ Ability to work in a team environment, interact with other disciplines, contribute ideas for addressing testing problems, and adapt to program challenges.
+ Understanding of product standards, specifications, and test methods is preferred.
+ Ability to work effectively with minimal oversight.
+ Strong written and verbal communications.
+ Knowledge of FMEA’s and Control Plans.
+ Ability to write standard work instructions for current and new test methods.
+ Understanding of 3rd party certification requirements for UL and/or SEI.
