    Department Description

    The Cardiovascular Department at Cambridge Health Alliance provides a full range of tests to evaluate the health of a patient's heart and blood vessels. As an Echocardiography Accredited Facility, the lab utilizes state-of-the-art equipment for services including Echocardiograms, Electrocardiograms (EKG), various stress tests, and vascular testing. The lab also offers Holter and Cardiac event monitors and runs a device clinic for in-person and remote checks on pacemakers, defibrillators, and loop recorders. These services are available at two locations, Cambridge Hospital and Everett Hospital.

    Summary

    Under the supervision of the Pulmonary Rehab Clinical Coordinator, participates in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, development of Individual Treatment Plans, patient exercise and education programs according to established policies and procedures. Assists in orientation of patients to Pulmonary Rehab Center and daily routines, including the safe use of the equipment. Participates in patient initial evaluation for exercise tolerance and develops individualized treatment plans (ITPs). Understands the risk of hospital readmissions and supports patients to reduce these risks. Conducts patient education on chronic disease management, lung health, medication compliance, and exercise to elicit positive lifestyle changes. Evaluates patient progress during training sessions and adjusts the treatment plan as necessary. Monitors patient and program outcomes. Communicates findings to medical personnel as required, following departmental practices and procedures. Participates in Pulmonary Rehab team conferences, staff meetings and in-services as appropriate. Maintains knowledge of applicable regulations and guidelines pertaining to Pulmonary Rehab Programs. Maintains equipment according to manufacturer’s specification and calls service personnel as needed. Orders equipment and supplies as needed. Maintains necessary records and files according to departmental practices and procedures Accurately completes billing records for Pulmonary Rehab procedures Maintains departmental specific competencies. Willingness to maintain current knowledge of pulmonary related health topics and industry trends through literature and research in pulmonary rehab. Conforms to hospital standards and conduct so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided. Conducts relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and fellow employees in a courteous, professional and friendly manner. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age groups of adult and geriatric patients regularly served. Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures. Performs other duties as needed

    Qualifications/Requirements

    Education/Training: Bachelors or Masters in Kinesiology or a related field.

     

    Certifications: Certified Exercise Physiologist. ACSM-CEP required with 6 months of hire

     

    BLS Certification

     

    ACLS certification preferred

     

    Pulmonary Rehab - 6 months experience in a pulmonary rehab setting.
