Description
Amazon is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to lead the next generation of analytics and decision support for our North American Transportation network. In this role, you’ll drive both traditional BI excellence and help integrate AI-powered analytics, including autonomous agents and generative AI tools, to transform how we understand, measure, and improve delivery performance.
Amazon Transportation encompasses all the operations that move customer shipments from fulfillment centers and third-party locations to the customer’s doorstep. Delivery speed is a core customer promise and a key differentiator for Amazon—your work will directly influence how we measure, improve, and scale this experience across our growing network.
You’ll partner closely with product managers, data scientists, applied scientists, software engineers, and business leaders. You will design analytical systems, build advanced dashboards and self-service tools, and increasingly work alongside AI agents to accelerate insight generation, root cause analysis, and metric definition.
This is a highly visible role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, combines technical depth with business judgment, and is excited about shaping the future of analytics at Amazon.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the design, development, and scaling of reporting solutions that support delivery speed and customer experience metrics
- Build scalable self-service dashboards and data pipelines that support granular analysis, defect investigation, and root cause discovery
- Perform deep-dives and ad hoc analytics to guide business decisions and uncover optimization opportunities
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to incorporate agentic AI tools into analytical workflows (e.g., GenAI agents that generate SQL, summarize findings, or assist with root cause detection)
- Stay current with AI/ML advancements (especially around LLMs and GenAI) and evangelize new technologies within the BIE and analytics community
- Partner with stakeholders to define new performance metrics, ensuring alignment with customer experience goals and operational drivers
