    Department: Pharmacotherapy Clinic

    **Work Type:** Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0)

    **Shift:** Shift 1

    **Work Schedule:** 8 Hr (8:30:00 AM - 4:30:00 PM)

    **Pay Range:** $27.47 - $43.27 per hour

    Job Summary:

    The ambulatory pharmacy technician position will work closely with ambulatory clinical pharmacy specialists to assist with improving patient care and outcomes. These activities will include assisting with the clinical pharmacists to complete care coordination including patient scheduling, communicating with patients and their caregivers, completing medication reconciliations, and medication access support. They will be an important part of the patient care team and ensure excellent service is provided to patients and their families. The ambulatory pharmacy technician position may be coordinated centrally through department or assigned by unit, physician practice, or service line.

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Manages caseload, serves as resource, sets priorities and completes assigned tasks.

    + Facilitates collaboration with clinical pharmacy team/department to prioritize tasks, ensuring department support needs are met.

    + Models ICARE values and actively supports teamwork, customer service and employee engagement. Flexes schedule to meet department needs.

    + Facilitates effective, efficient communication and problem solving with internal and external customers. Uses clinical software to document activities, track performance outcomes and produce performance reports.

    + Provides training and orientation, creates reference materials and shares expertise with others.

    + Seeks continuing education opportunities, completes required in-services and maintains professional growth by attending various department, institutional and external meetings, seminars and workshops.

    + Applies performance improvement strategies to promote continuous process improvement.

    + Identifies opportunities and collaborates with specialty pharmacy team/department to implement solutions. May serve on department or hospital-wide committees as needed.

    + Collaborates with team, department, unit staff, and/or physician practice to ensure expectations are met.

    + Performs activities in support of patient flow that may include patient placement activities.

    + Ability to assume other related responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Job Qualifications:

    + High School Diploma or Equivalent.

    + Five years' experience in the alternate site care environment.

    + Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

    + Experience providing customer service to both internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for service and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

    + Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills

    + Knowledge of and guarantees compliance with: state and federal regulations, accrediting body standards, HDM pharmacy policies and procedures and standards of performance.

    + Knowledge of marketing strategies, processes and available resources.

    + Ability to develop, plan and implement short- and long-range goals.

    + Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.

    + Computer skills (Word, Excel, patient databases, email); experience using voicemail and cell phones.

    + Telephone, computer systems, copiers, fax machines, calculator and other office equipment as necessary.

    + Advanced knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and insurance benefits.

    + Normal office and clinical environments.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    + Valid State of Illinois Pharmacy Technician License required

    + Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with hospital- and ambulatory clinic-related service functions such as: patient interviews, medication reconciliation, referral processes, community resources, finance and payer communication processes and information systems.

    + Maintain CE hours required to retain CPhT certification. Obtain certification within 1 year of starting if not certified prior to starting.

    + Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team
