Job Title: Drafter/Jr Designer
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Drafter/Jr Designer to join our Electrical Grid Infrastructure teams. You will support a variety of substation and transmission projects, working primarily on drafting assignments. This role involves working on drawings for transmission line and substation projects, and offers the opportunity to grow from basic drafting responsibilities to more complex design work based on skill level.
Responsibilities
+ Attend team and project meetings.
+ Work independently on electrical, structural, and civil drafting concepts.
+ Layout construction documents.
+ Apply basic design principles, with potential for more complex work.
+ Train with senior designers and engineers.
+ Submit work for quality review and make necessary corrections.
+ Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding project needs and responsibilities.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD software. Training will be provided for both platforms.
+ Ability to commute to Wilmington, DE office location for hybrid work schedule.
+ Strong ambition and work ethic, with a desire to grow into more senior design roles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate degree is required.
+ Experience in transmission line design, substation design, or construction documentation.
+ Blueprint creation and AutoCAD Civil 3D skills.
+ Utility-specific experience, such as a background in distribution as a junior designer or drafter, is a plus.
Work Environment
This position offers the potential of a hybrid work schedule with remote work on Monday and Friday, and in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after a training period. You will work in a collaborative team setting, with opportunities for in-person learning from experienced professionals. Additional in-office presence may be required for team meetings and training. The role provides career growth opportunities in a stable industry, with the potential for long-term engagement and advancement into design-based roles.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
