    Job Title: Phlebotomist IIJob Description

     

    The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting issues, providing training, and making workflow recommendations. This position plays a crucial role in the accurate collection and processing of specimens for testing.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.

    + Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.

    + Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods, such as urine or fecal, to patients.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

    + Fully understand and execute all physicians' orders.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure accurate labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing of specimens as required by test orders.

    + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.

    + Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature to maintain integrity.

    + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department training sessions.

    + Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

    Essential Skills

    + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required.

    + Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + 2-4 years of experience in related tasks.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Strong skills in phlebotomy, blood draw, venipuncture, and specimen collection.

    + Excellent customer service skills.

    + Experience in a laboratory environment.

    Work Environment

    The work environment is fast-paced, typically in a lab or hospital setting, requiring adherence to safety protocols and regulations. The role involves interacting with patients, requiring clear communication and a courteous manner. Proper attire is expected as per facility guidelines.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Humble, Texas.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
