Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of machinery, including mixers, saws, conveyors, box makers, sealers, fryers, freezers, Raytheon machines, forklifts, separators, and baggers. Your role will involve ensuring that all equipment is well-oiled and greased to function optimally, troubleshooting and repairing production equipment malfunctions, and operating manual tools to maintain production equipment.

Responsibilities

+ Inspect and maintain all production equipment as necessary and as scheduled.

+ Troubleshoot and repair production equipment malfunctions reported by line supervisors.

+ Test operate production machinery before and after repairs are made.

+ Monitor and maintain building and grounds functions such as plumbing, general electrical wiring, and painting.

+ Communicate progress of repair work, potential problems, and general functioning to line supervisors and incoming maintenance shifts.

+ Write and submit requests for parts as necessary to facilitate repairs and maintenance.

+ Record and maintain all relevant maintenance work completed and keep a logbook of daily activities.

+ Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside machinery technicians for timely and proper repair.

+ Make equipment adjustments as requested by line supervisors to assist machine operators with the accurate functioning of precision production equipment.

Essential Skills

+ Experience with control valves, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, motors, gearboxes, presses, and compressors.

+ Proficiency in operating drills, saws, grinders, welding apparatus, presses, and a variety of manual tools.

+ Skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, blueprint reading, conveyor maintenance, electrical work, and compressor maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ High school diploma or GED.

+ Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

You will work on the 2nd shift from 1:30-10 pm, Monday to Friday. The work environment exposes employees to loud noise, food-grade dust and odors, moving and vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil, and electricity. You may also be exposed to adverse weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke, and odors. Additionally, allergens such as fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk, and coconut are present inside the plant.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
