Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Austin, Texas. This role is ideal for an individual with strong expertise in cost accounting who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making processes.
Responsibilities:
+ Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
+ Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
+ Collaborate with operations and finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic planning.
+ Analyze and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure accurate product costing and inventory valuation.
+ Work closely with production and engineering teams to track material usage, labor costs, and overhead allocation.
+ Coordinate with internal and external auditors to support audit processes and ensure transparency.
+ Ensure adherence to company policies, GAAP, and regulatory standards in all accounting procedures.
+ Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to system enhancements, especially in cost tracking and BOM management.
+ Provide actionable insights through financial data analysis to support cost control and profitability initiatives.
+ Maintain accurate general ledger records and oversee bank reconciliations.
Requirements
+ 3–5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment
+ Proven experience managing and analyzing Bill of Materials (BOM) and product costing
+ Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and manufacturing accounting modules
+ Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and overhead allocation
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
+ Knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance standards
+ Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
+ Effective communication and collaboration skills across finance, operations, and production teams
