How you create impact
As a Sea Logistics Customer Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in managing and coordinating sea export shipments. Your responsibilities will include opening export files, preparing internal documentation, updating shipment statuses, and advising customers on arrival details.
+ Coordinate closely with the operations team to manage the full shipment process, including arranging pick-up or inland transportation, booking, preparing export documentation, and ensuring accurate tracking and tracing to destination.
+ Ensure proactive communication with vendors, shippers, customers, carriers, and Kuehne+Nagel overseas offices throughout the shipment lifecycle, ensuring optimal routing decisions aligned with customer requirements.
+ Negotiate competitive rates with service providers to optimize cost efficiency and support overall profitability.
+ Maintain up-to-date SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and detailed customer profiles, including key contacts, special handling requirements, contract rates, and preferred routing, services, and carriers.
+ Support overseas offices by contributing to quote preparation as needed, ensuring timely and accurate responses aligned with customer and operational requirements.
+ Regularly monitor and review updates and resources published on Kuehne+Nagel’s intranet to stay informed on company policies, procedures, and operational changes.
+ Promptly escalate any operational issues, disputes, or discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor, manager, or leadership team to ensure timely resolution and maintain workflow integrity.
+ Follow established Quality Management Work Instructions and procedures to ensure compliance with operational standards and safety protocols.
+ Address and resolve issues related to client requirements, data entry accuracy, and general customer service inquiries, including tracking and tracing shipments, to ensure a seamless customer experience.
+ Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, ensuring alignment with client-specific SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and contractual terms.
What we would like you to bring
+ Minimum 2 years of experience in freight forwarding or a related logistics role.
+ Strong understanding of domestic and international geography, including major cities and seaports.
+ Basic knowledge of U.S. regulatory requirements (FAA, FMC, EAR, Hazmat) and other relevant government agencies.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
+ Ability to complete IMO Security training classes.
