    Functional** **Overview & Responsibilities

    Study Build Programmer Internship Overview:

    Each intern will be assigned to a project giving them the opportunity to work on a team of programmers to test and validate clinical data capture systems or develop innovative solutions to streamline existing processes. The intern will gain exposure into how clinical research data is collected, validated, stored, aggregated, and transformed across enterprise level systems. Interns will interact and work alongside other Clinical Data Sciences professionals, including Lilly senior management. At the conclusion of the work period, each intern will present their project highlights, findings and general accomplishments to Clinical Data Sciences professionals. The role requires an in-depth understanding of programming, logic, data flow, and database architecture.

    Project opportunities are available in the following areas, but not limited to:

    + Electronic data capture system testing and validation

    + Clinical database programming and development

    + Data standardization and normalization

    + Process automation

     

    Lilly internships last for 12 continuous weeks, beginning in the last week of May. Each intern will be assigned a project affording the opportunity to learn more about how clinical trial databases and data capture systems are constructed, managed, and validated. Responsibilities during the internship may include, not limited to:

     

    + Develop an understanding of processes and procedures within the Data and Analytics business unit

    + Ensure system validation and reliability

    + Develops and tests new ideas and/or applies innovative solutions to aid in automating existing processes

    + Ensure data collection systems and database mappings are delivered accurately and in alignment with clinical trial objectives

    Basic Qualifications

    Currently enrolled in a Master’s program for Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Informatics, or the Life Sciences with an expected graduation date of Dec. 2026 – May 2027.

    Additional** **Functional Job Skills & Preference

    + Proficient in R, Python, or SQL programming

    + Understanding of databases and how data flows through different aggregate systems

    + Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment

    + Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration on diverse teams

    Additional Information

    + All interns will be considered for full-time positions based on their internship performance

    + Lilly arranges various intern activities including sporting events, dinners, lunch and learns, volunteer activities etc. to provide opportunities for socializing, professional development, and learning more about Lilly.

    + Interns will receive 1 week of paid time off during the Lilly summer shut-down (June 29th,2026 – July 3rd, 2026

    + 1:1 mentoring from an experienced professional in the function

    Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

     

    $43,000 - $110,000

     

    Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
