    Functional** **Overview & Responsibilities

     

    Our Global Statistical Sciences department includes over 200 people with advanced degrees in Statistics/Biostatistics. Our diverse population of global talent brings innovation to every aspect of our business - from Discovery Research to Clinical Development to Manufacturing and Real-world Evidence. We are playing a leading role in transforming the way the company develops medicines using state-of-the-art methods in adaptive designs, Bayesian statistics, causal inference, genetic/biomarker analysis, machine learning and more!

     

    As an intern in our Global Statistical Sciences department, you will have an opportunity to gain technical expertise and contribute to cutting edge research. You will understand the patient and business needs and then design, execute, and analyze clinical and other studies. Your creativity and leadership are essential elements of bringing better solutions in our drug discovery and development.     Responsibilities:

    The job tasks listed below outline the scope of the position. The application of these tasks may vary, based upon current business needs.

     

    + Partner with experts in statistics, basic science and medical to optimize drug discovery and development processes

    + Introduce and apply innovative methodology and tools to solve critical problems

    + Be accurate and creative in communicating results

    + Be up to date on novel and state of the art data and analytics technologies and approaches

    + Challenge yourself and others to be a life-long learner and always look for better ways to deliver

    Basic Qualifications

    Currently enrolled in a PhD Program in Statistics or Biostatistics, passed qualification exam, and will complete the third year by May 2026

    Additional** **Functional Job Skills & Preference

    + Proficient in statistical programming languages/software such as SAS, R, Python, etc

    + Interpersonal communication skills for effective customer consultation

    + Technical expertise and application with working knowledge of experimental design and statistical analysis

    + Creativity and innovation

    + Demonstrated problem solving ability and strategic thinking

    Additional Information

    + All interns will be considered for full-time positions based on their internship performance

    + Lilly arranges various intern activities including sporting events, dinners, lunch and learns, volunteer activities etc. to provide opportunities for socializing, professional development, and learning more about Lilly.

    + Interns will receive 1 week of paid time off during the Lilly summer shut-down (June 29th, 2026 – July 3rd, 2026 )

    + If the intern's job position requires a move from another location, Lilly will provide subsidized housing

    Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

     

    $43,000 - $110,000

     

    Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
