ITW is seeking an experienced Tax Counsel to support its corporate tax team. Based in Glenview, this role will play a key part in advancing ITW’s global tax strategy and drive critical tax initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong tax technical expertise, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the ability to drive complex projects to completion while working effectively with various stakeholders. The Tax Counsel will report to a Senior Tax Manager and work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Deliver technical tax analysis and execution on complex initiatives, including M&A, divestitures, cash repatriation, group financing, and reorganizations.
+ Stay up-to-date on all legislative and regulatory changes and assess their potential impact on ITW’s tax positions.
+ Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including external advisors, business partners and tax authorities.
+ Support the team in analyzing global tax developments on ITW’s tax positions.
+ Assist the team with annual compliance requirements.
+ Evaluate the current international tax structure and identify opportunities for optimization.
+ Contribute to ITW’s tax audit initiatives and requests.
+ Identify opportunities to streamline processes and procedures by leveraging ITW’s Business Model and the use of automation and technology.
Qualifications
+ Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school is required. Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation is preferred.
+ 2+ years of experience with a Big 4 accounting firm, top law firm, or within a corporate tax department of a U.S.-based multinational enterprise.
+ Ability to work 5 days a week onsite at ITW's Glenview corporate campus, with flexibility on hours.
+ Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely.
+ Ability to operate with a collaborative, result-driven mindset.
+ Capacity to manage multiple projects, people, and timetables.
Compensation Information:
The compensation package for the role offers a competitive base salary ranging from $120K - $150K annually. This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan.
