Texas Health Denton Hospital
Since 1987, Texas Health Denton has delivered trusted, full-service care to residents across North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. With 255 beds, more than 1,100 employees, and 450 physicians on our medical staff, we're one of the largest employers in Denton County.
We offer advanced care in robotic and endovascular surgery, general surgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, spine and back services, emergency medicine, and weight loss surgery. Additional services include cancer treatment, critical care, neonatology, cardiac CT imaging, neurology, electrophysiology, stroke care, vascular care, women's and infants' services, interventional radiology, and wound care including hyperbaric treatment.
Our four-story Women and Infants Specialty Center features twelve labor and delivery beds, two C-section suites, six antepartum beds, and 24 postpartum beds. We are Denton's only provider of obstetrical and neonatal intensive care and the largest provider of obstetrical services in Denton County. The facility's ground floor includes a dedicated breast imaging center, outpatient physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, and our internal medicine residency program.
Texas Health Denton is a Joint Commission-accredited Primary (Level II) Stroke Center, a certified Chest Pain Center, a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, and a Magnet-designated hospital. We're also actively pursuing Level III Trauma Center designation-further strengthening our commitment to emergency care excellence.
Job Duties
Plan, organize and delegate activities as required for the safe, efficient and effective operation of the department including active participation with other hospital and leadership staff to accomplish this objective. Develop and oversee the implementation of policies, procedures, and standards that direct department operations As required for service, verify that standards are consistent with regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements. Actively incorporate measures to obtain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements. Identify and utilize processes and resources that support optimal delivery of data and information to leadership team and staff
Establish priorities for department growth and enhancement based on customer need, research findings, and industry trends. Effectively market the service to key stakeholders Collaborate with those providing direct patient care and members of other disciplines at all levels in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program and services.
Stewardship of the department resources by fostering a continuous improvement mindset. Drive high quality patient care in a cost efficient manner. In collaboration with the department management and staff, determine the appropriate number and level of staff, balancing competency, patient needs, patient outcomes, patient safety outcomes and productivity guidelines. Monthly review of the Departmental Responsibility Reports (DRRs) to determine adherence to operational performance targets. Regularly communicate with staff and customer groups as appropriate regarding hospital/departmental goals, results and future direction. Advocate for appropriate fiscal and Human Resources to accomplish work/goals for the Department and the Organization.
Collaborate with all customer groups (patients, department/hospital staff, physicians and other customer groups), to meet and exceed needs/expectations. Create and maintain a collaborative work environment (patients, physicians and key stakeholders) Actively engage in customer groups on a regular basis to promote effective customer relationships and communication with prompt resolution of issues and concerns. Evaluates customer satisfaction on a regular basis to determine gaps between actual results and expectations.
Use benchmark data from internal and external sources to identify opportunities for improvement of care and patient safety. Identify key performance indicators that need to be monitored and evaluated. Develop, monitor and evaluate systems that improve organizational performance. Include department staff shared KPI goal setting, strategy development and outcomes analysis
Oversee the effectiveness of the department recruitment and retention program, taking action as necessary to provide an adequate level of qualified staff. Promote professional growth, development and accountability in staff, students and colleagues. Track and evaluate staff performance and individual development, holding staff accountable for achieving service expectations. Coach and mentor subordinate staff in order to improve their performance and expand responsibilities Develop and support shared decision-making through the Unit Based Council model in order to develop inter/intradepartmental teamwork and team goal accomplishments Identify leadership talent and actively develops leadership skills
Network with peers in State/Regional/Nation to share ideas and conduct mutual problem solving. Promote understanding and effective use of organization management theories and research. Establish collegial relationships with physicians , unit personnel and administration
Integrate team -building strategies and principles of group process in iteration with staff. Promote the professional image in demeanor, appearance, attitude and behaviors. Engage in self-performance appraisal on regular basis, identifying areas of strength as well as areas for professional/practice development
Education
Bachelor's Degree related rehab field required
Master's Degree professional field, business administration or healthcare administration preferred
Experience
5 years experience in hospital management required
Licenses and Certifications (any of the three licenses below are required upon hire)
PT - Physical Therapist
OT - Occupational Therapist
SLP - Speech Language Pathology
Skills
Proactive problem solving; good interpersonal skills; good verbal and written communication skills; basic computer skills; strong financial management skills including analysis and budgeting; knowledge of industry standards and regulatory standards for area of responsibility; ability to work as a member of a team, to lead, learn and be creative
