Principal Simulation & Analysis Engineer
Job Description:
+ Serve as an expert in modal analysis and fatigue life estimation.
+ Guide the development and use of complex models, tools and algorithms with a focus on stress/strain to support NPD and Advanced Development activities.
+ Mentor, train and share knowledge of FEA and related technologies to increase overall capabilities of the department. May manage projects and/or small teams.
+ Model operational environments, perform tradeoff studies via ANSYS and other simulation software to support decisions and provide design direction for alternative architectures.
+ Consult with teams on loading and boundary conditions and verify through failure analysis
+ Recommend geometry and/or material changes for design robustness as well as weight, size and cost optimizations.
+ Validate simulation results with theory and/or test data.
+ Regularly articulate complex simulations and their results in an easy-to-understand format with teammates, senior management and executives.
+ Execute analysis on competitive parts and products.
+ Provide trade-offs of accuracy verses time to complete analysis; articulate and prioritize time constraints where needed.
+ Receive and prioritize analysis requests from a variety of customers.
+ Grow organizational capability through knowledge sharing and collaboration with own and other departments across business units as required.
+ Leading international teams in analysis and simulation activities
+ Lead international teams in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation activities for the development of new plumbing and electrical products. Products include but are not limited to battery powered hydraulic crimping, press and cutting tools, and other electrical power tool product categories such as outdoor power equipment.
+ Lead teams in establishing accurate models for stress and strain in highly stressed mechanical parts and correlated fatigue life utilizing FEA software. Help teams understand and configure models correctly to accurately represent stress and strain; and understand and establish key material properties to get correlated results through software tools, research and design of experiments. Run the Finite Element simulations using personal and cluster computer systems.
