The HR Generalist serves as an internal resource on employment matters, ensuring adherence to legislation, company policies, and other staffing and performance-related issues. This role involves managing day-to-day HR operations, including full-cycle recruiting, employee relations, investigations, total rewards programs, performance and talent management, employee practices and procedures, coordinating site training and development programs, maintaining HR records, supporting change management, and employee communications. The HR Generalist will also coordinate engagement initiatives and support employee recognition efforts, while administering and ensuring compliance with FMLA, ADA, and company leave policies.
Responsibilities
+ Support Department Managers and Supervisors in executing the HR people strategy to improve site efficiency and performance, aiming for high engagement and low turnover.
+ Manage overall performance, management, people planning, and employee engagement efforts.
+ Oversee full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, particularly for high-volume hourly positions in manufacturing.
+ Ensure compliance with Federal and State legislation pertaining to personnel and payroll matters, communicating changes to appropriate staff.
+ Adhere to labor laws and company policies, including safety, anti-harassment, and accident/incident reporting.
+ Develop and administer various human resources plans and procedures for the facility, ensuring proper implementation and interpretation.
+ Maintain accurate employee records, manage HRIS data, and process related documentation.
+ Oversee personnel record keeping related to new hires, employee reviews, promotions, transfers, employee benefits, separations, and exit interviews.
+ Regularly walk the manufacturing floor to build relationships, understand workplace dynamics, and serve as a visible and approachable HR point of contact.
+ Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and conduct investigations while maintaining a positive work environment.
+ Manage special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ 4+ years of HR Generalist experience within manufacturing
+ Bachelor's Degree (HR relevant preferred)
+ Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
+ Ability to manage high-volume employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, with professionalism.
+ Excellent communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills with both employees and management.
+ Thorough knowledge of relevant employment laws and regulations.
+ Effective oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to observe confidentiality.
+ Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, and regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ SHRM certification is a plus.
+ PHR is a plus.
+ Experience with Human Resources Information Systems is a plus.
Work Environment
The role is based in a large manufacturing facility with around 750 employees. The work schedule is Monday to Friday on the 1st shift, with the flexibility to cover night shift employees when necessary, typically once a week. The dress code is business casual.

This is a Contract position based out of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $43.00/hr.
