    Job Title: Legal Assistant

    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to support our legal department. The role involves running delinquency reports, following up on past-due tenants, and updating company software for legal notices. You will educate tenants on late fees, interact daily with our legal team, and prepare written notices and correspondences for attorneys. The position also requires communication with NJ counties' court systems and occasional virtual court attendance as a witness.

    Responsibilities

    + Run delinquency reports and follow up with past-due tenants.

    + Work with tenants to assess if cases should proceed to court.

    + Update software for generating and sending legal notices.

    + Educate tenants about late fees and issue notices.

    + Interact with the legal department regarding contracts and tenant files.

    + Communicate with NJ counties' court systems over the phone.

    + Prepare written notices and correspondences for attorneys.

    + Review and distribute invoices from outside counsel to accounting.

    + Attend virtual court sessions as a witness when needed.

    + Communicate daily with attorneys.

    + Send out template notices to tenants.

    + Redline and edit documents.

    + Handle outbound collections calls to tenants.

    + Update tenant account balances.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in legal administration and administrative support.

    + Proficiency in Excel and payment processing.

    + Ability to file various legal notices, including eviction and court notices.

    + Strong customer service skills and experience answering incoming calls.

    + Experience in outbound collections and reviewing contracts.

    + Ability to draft correspondence and legal documentation.

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    + 1+ years of experience in an administrative support or legal assistant role.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Entry-level experience with collections and taking payments.

    + Experience in retail banking.

    + Previous experience reviewing legal notices.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodbridge, New Jersey.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
