    NIGHT SHIFT - Data Center Technician - Entry Level

    Job Description

    This position will secure, operate, monitor, measure, and attain customer data center service level commitments, and maintain facility appearance and integrity, especially during assigned on-site schedule. The data center is a critical aspect of the customer usiness by ensuring availability, business continuity (no disruption), and security for internal and external customers. The data center must maintain high standards for assuring the integrity and functionality of its’ hosted computer environment and support services.

    - NIGHT SHIFT: 12 hour shifts, 3 days on, 4 days off and the 4 days on, 3 off (7pm - 7am) - This will cross over on weekends

     

    - Being punctual and willing to learn.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    (1) Security: Staff the main data center security station, provide the critical site access security, and enforce the access control measures for all constituencies desiring access to data center or data room areas.

     

    • Detect and dispatch help for trouble situations in facilities, and attempt troubleshooting if possible/practical

    • Conduct routine walkthroughs of local facility, correcting both appearance and functional imperfections

    • Chaperone vendors and guests, or seek chaperones for vendors and guests, as may become necessary, without abandoning command center responsibilities

    • Respond physically to trouble situations within the local facility and conduct troubleshooting as may be required, until on call personnel can arrive on site and take over

    • Monitor and record vital statistics and produce appropriate reports, including shift and weekly reports

    • Record and maintain accurate incident and change records and logs, consistent with then-current operating practices and policies

    (2) Technician Support:

    • Monitor and Operate Data Centers critical functions and facilities.

    • Assist, as available: Servicing customer support incident tickets unrelated to security, AND/OR in monitoring of managed services during break periods AND/OR hardware installation including: computer rack shelves, computer cabinet power strips, computer cabinet rails, low voltage network cable management, customer computer server equipment, cutting tiles and installing wires.

    • Provide “Remote Hands” assistance, as may be requested by customers, without abandoning front desk responsibilities

    • Install fiber/Ethernet cross-connect cabling in overhead trays for new circuits ordered and projects

    • Perform nightly cleaning duties of the data center environment as assigned

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
