Job Title: Crisis Services Specialist- Region 5 Field Office- Savannah
Pay Grade: K

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Regional Coordinator, the Crisis Services Specialist is responsible for supporting individuals with behavioral health challenges and providers by assuring easy access to high quality care; monitoring and expediting the care of individuals from community to the state funded crisis system (Behavioral Health Crisis Center, Crisis Stabilization Unit, State Hospital, State Contracted Beds, Mobile Crisis Teams); responding to individual and family concerns and complaints; and collaborating with internal and external partners to improve the overall functioning of the state funded crisis system.
Job Responsibilities include:
1. Oversight of regional crisis system and individuals in crisis to include Adult and Child services to ensure coordination between the Georgia Crisis and Access Line (GCAL), mobile crisis, law enforcement, hospitals, Behavioral Health Crisis Centers (BHCC), Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU), State Contract Beds (SCB), state hospitals, and Developmental Disability Crisis Home providers.
2. Monitor CSU/BHCC/SCB review of individuals for placement, assist with transfers to state hospitals and ensure quality discharge planning occurs from CSU/SCB to decrease likelihood of readmission.
3. Monitor bed board to include identifying individuals who have not been reviewed or evaluated in a timely manner and ensure resolution of issues with providers and external stakeholders (law enforcement officials, jails, Emergency Departments (ED), probate courts).
4. Build and maintain relationships with community hospital systems in the region, to assist with IDD individuals presenting at community emergency departments.
5. Collaborate with regional IDD staff responsible for finding residential or other providers as individuals with IDD in crisis stabilize and are no longer in crisis.
6. Collaborate with regional CYF specialist staff responsible for finding residential or other providers as in Children and Adolescents in crisis stabilize and are no longer in crisis.
7. Coordinate and collaborate with law enforcement, jails, ED, and other community partners to ensure individuals receive the appropriate level of care. In addition, the Crisis service specialist should approve admittance to DD Crisis homes.
8. Determine training needs and provide opportunities for providers to receive training and technical assistance.
+ Coordinate and participate in joint meetings to resolve crisis related barriers.
10. Ensure providers adhere to crisis related policies and procedures.
11. Perform periodic site visits to DBHDD state funded crisis providers (i.e., CSU, BHCC, SCB facility, IDD crisis homes). Visit purposes include but are not limited to building and strengthening relationships, maintaining awareness of the physical condition, staffing at the sites and identifying any needs that require a DBHDD response.
12. Facilitate and coordinate regional crisis collaboration meetings.
13. Participate in statewide meetings
14. Coordinate care for individuals including ensuring that barriers are identified and addressed, and solutions are developed to assist with community placement. This could include problem solving for challenging placements, as well as review of rationales of readmissions, and recommend referrals to higher level of care due to patterns of readmission
15. Review reports, identify trends, address trends with recommendations to the Regional Services Administrator, the Regional Coordinator and in consultation with the Office of Crisis Coordination.
16. Address complaints as directed by supervisor.
17. Perform job duties with minimal supervision and independently seek supervision when needed.
18. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
19. This position will require after-hours capacity to address immediate needs of individuals and providers which occur after business hours.
20. Some regional and statewide travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Independent license (LPC, LMFT, LCSW)
• Knowledge of behavioral health and developmental disability service design models
• Training and consultation experience

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional job-related experience which includes one (1) year in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role; or two (2) years of experience at the lower level Social Svcs Prgm Consultant 2 (SSP041) or position equivalent.
