The primary roles of the Automation & Controls Technician is to provide automation and controls troubleshooting/repair support of operations along with helping to drive modernization upgrades at The Coca-Cola CPS Atlanta, GA manufacturing plant. This position will work on a 12 hr (2/2/3) shift as part of the maintenance staff and will report to the plant Automation Engineer. The ability to work safely is paramount to the job requirements.
The Automation & Controls Technician must work alongside Plant Maintenance Techs to identify, troubleshoot and repair problems in all areas of electrical, automation, shop floor networks, process control, and instrumentation that occur in the facility. The Automation and Controls technician must be able to troubleshoot, pinpoint problems, and remediate all problems.
Job Duties and Position-Related Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
+ Possess knowledge and apply safe electrical work practices (LOTO and Arc Flash safety - NFPA 70E).
+ Apply electrical standards including the National Electrical Code (NEC) and UL508a.
+ Ensure safety is prioritized in all operations and work execution (Arc Flash/Shock Hazard, confined space entry, LOTO, line break permits, hazardous materials handling, safe hand tool use, etc.).
+ Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in work execution and operational support.
+ Maintain shop safety, orderliness, and compliance with plant policies; report violations to management.
Technical Skills & Troubleshooting
+ Interpret PLC code, schematic wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, and P&ID process diagrams.
+ Possess advanced skills with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, sensors, instrumentation, and industrial control systems-including programming techniques and configurations.
+ Troubleshoot electrical circuits using multi-meters or similar tools.
+ Perform troubleshooting and repairs or modifications with minimal manufacturer specifications and documentation.
+ Install electrical components and wiring systems, validating proper and safe operation of devices.
+ Troubleshoot industrial networks such as Ethernet, DeviceNET, ControlNET, etc.
+ Provide advanced troubleshooting support following best practices for safety and fault isolation.
+ Understand calibration procedures for process instruments measuring temperature, pressure, flow, level, and composition.
+ Possess understanding of process controls and related troubleshooting.
Maintenance & Support
+ Support preventive maintenance and calibration of plant control systems and instrumentation as needed.
+ Record parts and materials used; order or requisition replacements using the CMMS system (SAP).
+ Capture detailed descriptions and procedures for troubleshooting and repairs in CMMS.
+ Update computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) records to maintain accurate plant asset history.
+ Ensure needed work order materials are available to support scheduled tasks.
Planning & Documentation
+ Examine jobs to determine scope and optimal execution methods; consult with requesters, Maintenance Planner, or Supervisor as needed.
+ Obtain drawings, manuals, and procedures from files or other sources; create additional sketches or diagrams as required.
+ Utilize AutoCAD (ACAD) for minor drawing changes as needed.
+ Utilize SAP CMMS for work scheduling, documentation, and parts checkout.
+ Author and update SOPs as necessary.
+ Make recommendations for system and process improvements.
Communication & Collaboration
+ Communicate effectively with plant operations, technical teams, vendors, equipment OEMs, project engineers, and plant employees.
+ Provide training and guidance to operations and technical staff to enhance understanding of issues and system features.
+ Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow and issue resolution.
General & Other Duties
+ Gain complete knowledge of plant processes and packaging systems.
+ Perform other tasks and special assignments as requested by management.
Education and Additional Qualifications
+ High School, General Education
+ Bachelors or Technical Degree in related discipline desired
+ Meet all basic plant employment criteria, to include a good attendance record.
+ Able to read one-line diagrams, P&ID, blueprints and schematics.
+ Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
+ Ability to work on multiple levels, such as catwalks, ladders, etc. and ability to work in extreme temperatures.
+ Manual and finger dexterity.
+ Ability to visually identify defective parts.
+ Ability to hear machine operations sounds to detect defective parts, machine failures, and changes in speed and other routine running conditions.
+ Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under stressful situations.
+ Must be able to work flexible shift schedules up to 12-hour shifts as determined by business need.
+ Must be able to use a computer and associated software programs.
+ Perform all tasks in a safe manner to ensure achievement of Quality, Service and Cost objectives.

Pay Range:$101,920 - $110,240
Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
Annual Incentive Reference Value Percentage:7.5
Annual Incentive reference value is a market-based competitive value for your role. It falls in the middle of the range for your role, indicating performance at target.
