The Finance Risk team within GR&S is hiring a Senior Risk Advisor who will serve as a strategic partner to senior divisional leaders, providing guidance and consultation for global corporate finance functions. In this role, you will understand key corporate finance activities and incorporate relevant risk factors impacting the business with a significant focus on capital and liquidity.
You will be seen as a valued partner and trusted resource to enable Vanguard’s business strategy; protect clients, crew and assets; and steward a risk-smart culture. The team is comprised of collaborative, hard-working, highly motivated, and technically skilled professionals who consistently deliver high-quality work in an exciting and multifaceted environment. The Finance Risk team is located across three geographical locations (US, Europe, and Australia) with this role located in Malvern, PA.
This role offers a unique opportunity to:
- Lead and evolve divisional risk frameworks that support proactive risk identification and mitigation.
- Be responsible for continuing to evolve risk management support for Vanguard’s capital and liquidity program.
- Drive long-term risk strategies and influence risk-smart decision making that enhance operational efficiency and elevate risk management standards.
- Collaborate across divisions and geographies, building strong relationships and acting as a thought partner to senior leadership.
Core Responsibilities
+ Leads the maturing of the existing risk program related to capital adequacy and liquidity, while enhancing the processes for risk scanning, scenario inventorying, tabletop exercises, and risk modeling to ensure greater robustness and resilience. This includes developing and applying structured methodologies to identify plausible loss scenarios, assessing correlations and probabilities, and translating insights into inputs to capital and liquidity targets.
+ Provides risk guidance and oversight services to the business based on the Vanguard's operational and strategic risk frameworks. Ensures the development and implementation of effective divisional risk appetite and metrics.
+ Leads and assists the business in the development, implementation and management of short and long-term risk management strategies in accordance with department goals and objectives, standard risk management policies and procedures, and the overall risk strategy.
+ Works with the business to mitigate risks and optimize process efficiency. Uses expert industry best practice knowledge to design effective controls and makes recommendations for developing risk management strategies for the business. Provides consultation, facilitation and analytical support to the divisional management team as new products, services, and processes are developed to ensure risk is appropriately mitigated.
+ Develops and maintains strong relationships with clients to understand their ongoing risk needs. Acts as a thought partner to the business.
+ Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Minimum of eight years related work experience.
+ Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred
+ Broad conceptual thinking with the ability to align risk management strategies with business objectives
+ Ability to communicate complex risk concepts to senior leadership
