    The Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Operating Unit (OU) is a newly formed team with a bold mission: to consolidate, simplify, and accelerate Microsoft’s presence across the DIB landscape. This expansive network includes over 100,000 organizations specializing in manufacturing, aviation, cybersecurity, and more—all united in their support of all Federal Agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense and other mission-based intelligence and civilian organizations.

     

    Our team is dedicated to empowering these commercial contractors throughout their digital transformation journey—from envisioning new possibilities to delivering secure, scalable solutions that drive mission outcomes, elevate customer experience, and fuel Microsoft’s growth.

     

    The DIB OU will directly manage and accelerate strategic and major DIB accounts across MCAPS Americas, while also enabling growth across other OUs and SME&C. We’re building new relationships, transforming legacy operations, and helping our customers modernize with confidence.

     

    We are seeking a **Cloud Solution Architect – Data Security** with a passion for solving complex security challenges in Defense and national security environments. In this role, you’ll help customers modernize their data protection strategies, strengthen compliance posture, and secure sensitive information across hybrid and cloud infrastructures.

     

    As a Data Security CSA in the DIB Operating Unit, you’ll be at the forefront of Microsoft’s mission to safeguard critical infrastructure and support national defense. You’ll work in some of the most secure, high-consequence environments in the world, helping customers adopt Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), Insider Risk Management, and other E5 security capabilities. Your work will enable secure collaboration, data governance, and protection of classified and sensitive data—while driving digital transformation and mission readiness.

     

    This role is part of a specialized team supporting the Defense Industrial Base (DIB)—a $400B+ sector encompassing Tier 1–3 defense partners and mission-critical suppliers. As a Data Security Cloud Solution Architect, you will deliver deep technical expertise across Microsoft’s data protection and compliance portfolio, including Microsoft Purview, Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, and DLP.

     

    You’ll be responsible for driving usage excellence and accelerating adoption of Microsoft’s security solutions in classified, sovereign, and highly regulated environments. Your work will help customers safeguard sensitive data, meet stringent compliance requirements, and enable secure collaboration across hybrid and cloud infrastructures.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    + Lead the adoption and optimization of Microsoft Purview solutions—including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection (MIP), and Insider Risk Management (IRM)—to help customers achieve their compliance and data securityobjectives.

    + Drive the deployment and usage of Microsoft E5 Security solutions, focusing on data classification, labeling, encryption, insider risk management, and data loss prevention, especially within Microsoft 365 environments.

    + Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Success Account Managers (CSAMs), Security Specialists, Compliance teams, and external partners to ensure successful solution delivery and customer satisfaction.

    + Utilize AI-driven security tools and best practices to accelerate secure solution adoption, support incident response, and provide actionable feedback to enhance product capabilities and customer outcomes.

    + Support classified and sovereign environments by tailoring data protection strategies to meet FedRAMP, ITAR, and DoD Zero Trust requirements, ensuring secure collaboration and compliance across disconnected and hybrid infrastructures.

    + Drive customer success planning and blueprint alignment, contributing to strategic account growth and ensuring readiness for mission-critical workloads.

    + Participate in Well-Architected Framework (WAF) assessments, including WARA and WASA, to evaluate and improve customer security posture across data workloads.

    + Act as a trusted advisor in high-consequence environments, helping defense partners modernize legacy operations and adopt secure, scalable data protection solutions.

    Qualifications

    Required** **Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 4+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR equivalent experience.

    + 4 years of experience in Microsoft Purview solutions, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection (MIP), and Insider Risk Management (IRM), as well as Microsoft E5 Security solutions.

    Other Requirements:

    **Microsoft Cloud Background Check** : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    **Citizenship & Citizenship Verification:**  This position requires verification of U.S citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport.

    **Citizenship & Citizenship Verification:**  This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under U.S. export control regulations, potentially under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or the Export Administration Regulations.  As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport.

    Preferred** **Qualifications:

    + Demonstrated ability to architect, implement, andoptimizesecurity and compliance frameworks in complex enterprise or government environments, especially within Microsoft 365.

    + Experience driving adoption of security solutions at scale, including policy development, user enablement, and executive stakeholder engagement.

    + Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with a history of collaborating with technical teams, account managers, compliance officers, and external partners to deliver business outcomes.

    + Excellent communication and executive presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex security concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.

    + ExperienceleveragingAI-driven security tools and integrating security into AI and cloud transformation initiatives.

    + Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified: Information Protection Administrator Associate, CISSP, CISM, or similar.

    + Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving security technologies, compliance requirements, and industry best practices

     

    Cloud Solution Architecture IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
