    NOTE: This position is available for full-time remote work within the contiguous United States. Those living within a 30-mile radius of a NuScale physical office will be required to work in-office,

     

    POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for technical supplier oversight regarding manufacturing and manufacturing development projects, specifically related to the core components. The core components are comprised of the nuclear fuel assemblies, control rod assemblies, primary and secondary neutron sources and the ECCS supplemental boron system pellets. The manufacturing engineer will provide assistance to NuScale design organizations regarding manufacturability, specify and collect product manufacturing requirements including all standards and specifications. This role also acts as a point of contact between NuScale design organizations and manufacturing suppliers for technical information and communications. The manufacturing engineer will apply industry expertise, codes and standards, and regulatory guidance in the general area of core components manufacturing and supply chain development.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Interact daily with NuScale design organizations to interpret their needs and requirements to manufacturing entities.

    + Educate the NuScale design organizations by sharing knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.

    + Identify opportunities for cost or schedule improvement.

    + Perform assigned project engineering duties by preparing requirements documents and schedules, coordinating and monitoring the technical aspects of assigned manufacturing and manufacturing development projects.

    + Review manufacturing documentation of supplier to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, standards, and QA/QC requirements.

    + Develop, check, or review internal drawings, studies, and specifications

    + Review engineering deliverables using professional expertise and judgement.

    + Monitoring supplier performance to ensure compliance with procedures, applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications, with occasional travel (up to 20%) to supplier manufacturing sites.

    + Leads efforts to understand capabilities of new manufacturing suppliers and documenting survey results.

    + Perform/coordinate grading of technical proposals and working with Procurement team for supplier selection.

    + Provide Product Cost Management team with cost estimates and value engineering studies.

    + Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing manufacturing information and trends including statistical analysis of manufacturing trends under supervision.

    + Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    + Quality Assurance : Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.

    MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

    + Education/Certification: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Manufacturing, Nuclear, or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university is required. Working toward Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.

    + Experience: 5+ years of engineering experience in design or manufacturing of nuclear fuel, control rod assemblies, and neutron source assemblies. Manufacturing development of designs, components, or systems is preferred. Demonstrated project engineering skills along with sound technical writing skills and normal MS Office software is required. Must be able to demonstrate familiarity with shop safety requirements and working conditions.

    + Industry Requirements : Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

    The target pay range for this position is $111,105 - $134,093 annually. The full pay range is $99,611 - $155,803 annually.

     

    At NuScale, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, full-time working experience, education and training, equity within the department.
