Minimum Qualifications:

+ Proven experience as a secondary science teacher or relevant role

+ Comprehensive knowledge of current pedagogical skills and teaching and management

+ methodologies

+ Experience working with children with a wide range of needs

+ Valid New York State certification in: Earth Science 7-12 OR in a program leading to certification (i.e. student teacher)

Essential Duties:

Albion Central School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to serve as a long term substitute.

Responsibilities:

+ Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous biology lessons aligned with state standards.

+ Teach fundamental and advanced Earth Science concepts, including geology, meteorology, astronomy, and oceanography.

+ Design and facilitate hands-on laboratory experiments to enhance student learning.

+ Integrate technology and digital resources to support instruction and student engagement.

+ Assess student progress through assignments, exams, and projects, providing constructive feedback.

+ Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and scientific exploration.

+ Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences.

+ Prepare students for standardized tests, college readiness, and future careers in science.

+ Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress with parents and guardians.

+ Support the administration in implementing district policies and school regulations related to student life and conduct.

+ Attend scheduled meetings and serve on district and school committees.

+ Ensure compliance with legal and district requirements by maintaining accurate and complete records.

+ Pursue professional growth through ongoing reading, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

+ Regularly grade assignments and provide timely feedback to help students track their progress and address challenges early.

+ Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administrator.

Requirements:

+ NYS Certification in Earth Science 7-12 OR enrolled in a program leading to certification

+ Fingerprint clearance through NYSED TEACH; Drug Testing; current TB test; current Physical (less than one year old) - all completed upon being hired for employment

Terms of Employment: Prorated - Long -term sub rate to be established by the Board of Education; follows the ATA contract - (Step 1 - $49,037 - $55,000 annually)

Evaluation: Completed by Administration and follows ATA contract
