We’re looking for an IT Manager to lead our Mobile Communications Services team—a dedicated group focused on the creation, design, and development of faster, more efficient telecommunications and data systems. The IT Manager will oversee operations, guide technical teams, and drive innovation to ensure seamless communication support for our agency and its partners.

Minimum Qualifications
Seven years of experience in information technology; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus five years of experience in information technology; OR
An associate's degree in information technology plus five years of experience in information technology; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience in information technology; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus four years of experience in information technology; OR
A master’s degree plus four years of experience in information technology.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties
+ Manages one or more IT functions outside the Office of Technology Services, including personnel and operations. Ensures compliance with state and federal policies.
+ Coordinates with agency staff to maintain operational continuity. Contributes to strategic planning and provides training and guidance to improve section performance.
+ Oversees work assignments, monitors efficiency, and recommends improvements.
+ Ensures staff adherence to IT policies, assessing and updating procedures as needed.
+ Develops and enforces technology plans, ensuring execution meets expectations.
+ Monitors contracted resources, prioritizes tasks, and coordinates vendor replacements when necessary.
+ May present to agency personnel and external groups on technology use and updates.
Position-Specific Details:
The incumbent for this position provides high-level technical advisement and oversight while directing and supporting lower-level technicians and coordinating with industry partners on system enhancements, upgrades, and infrastructure expansions. In addition to managerial responsibilities, the incumbent ensures the operational integrity of mission-critical statewide network communication systems, including mobile data, wireless data, voice communication, satellite peripheral devices, computer networks, and PC systems.
The incumbent ensures staff are properly trained and equipped to provide user support for troubleshooting and repair of electronic and electrical systems, mobile data computers, and PC hardware/software. Additionally, this position serves as the primary liaison with vendors to safeguard system integrity and dependability while upholding the mission of statewide interoperability.
Appointment Type: Promotional/Internal Only -This position will be filled as a promotion of a permanent employee with the Department of Public Safety, Office of State Police.
Career Progression: This position is not Career Progression Group eligible.
Work Schedule:Work hours are 24 hrs/7 days
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Salary ranges from a minimum of $75,046 up to a maximum of $135,096.
