+ Bachelor’s degree.
+ Experience installing, administering, and supporting hardware and software in a multi-user environment.
+ Experience managing/troubleshooting networking tasks and IT security protocols.
+ Experience managing audio/video equipment and conferencing technologies.
+ Experience developing and maintaining software systems, databases, and web applications.
+ Skill in testing/debugging applications, preparing documents/web content, and writing technical documentation.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience providing advanced-level technical guidance and customer support with courtesy and professionalism.
+ Experience working with student workers or graduate assistants.
+ Demonstrated ability to multitask with frequent interruptions and occasional extended hours.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree.
+ Experience supporting eRA systems (Kuali, Cayuse, Huron, InfoEd, Streamlyne, etc.).
+ Proven troubleshooting skills using logical, strategic processes.
+ Experience installing/supporting network printers and distributing software in enterprise environments.
+ Experience with support ticketing systems.
+ Familiarity with sponsored program workflows, compliance requirements, and integration of eRA with university IT.
+ Experience technically supporting executive-level stakeholders in an academic environment.
+ Understanding of IT security best practices and remediation.
+ Familiarity with web platforms (Gato, Calico, WordPress).
+ Ability to translate complex technical and compliance issues into accessible solutions.
Job Description
Responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting hardware, software, and electronic research administration (eRA) platforms to support the critical operations of the AVPR and researchers across campus. This includes day-to-day technical support, troubleshooting, and system administration for research IT resources, desktops, peripherals, and specialized research software. The position ensures the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of research administration technology while delivering high-quality, customer-focused assistance.
Job Duties
Install, upgrade, design, maintain, support, troubleshoot, and deploy software and hardware systems and databases to meet the needs of the Division of Research.
Evaluate client needs and develop user support, including technical documentation describing customer service needs.
Maintain and update existing hardware and software systems and databases in response to new requirements.
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain desktop hardware, operating systems, peripherals, and enterprise/eRA systems.
Provide technical support through multiple channels (in person, remote, chat, phone, email) for proposal submission systems, compliance modules, and award management workflows.
Manage and troubleshoot user accounts, Active Directory, authentication, and access permissions. Support audio/video equipment, video conferencing technologies, and research IT events. Collaborate with central IT, ITAC , vendors, and network administrators on upgrades and complex issues.
Monitor system performance, implement IT security best practices, and apply remediation techniques.
Prepare training on using software and research administration platforms.
Document internal practices, policies, and procedures to support a robust team knowledge base. Assist with inventory and distribution of computing hardware and licensed software.
Perform quantitative analysis on usage trends and consult with administrators to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
Assist with website maintenance and troubleshooting.
