Job Description
To coordinate and manage the moving services for ODU’s main campus, Graduate Centers, Community Colleges, TELETECHNET sites & EVMS . Participate in planning of special events such as Commencement, Convocation, President’s events and student events. Facilities Management representative for coordinating and supervising the above events. Maintains a schedule of training of staff. Maintaining adequate tools, equipment to effectively perform the assignments. Manages tent permit application process with BCOM . Position is designated essential personnel for emergency closings.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of project coordination and safety practices used in planning and implementation of special events. Demonstrated ability to coordinate several special events simultaneously. Experience with or ability to obtain certificate for forklift operations. Must have the skills to measure the time necessary to perform certain moving tasks and special event setups. Must be able to interact with faculty, staff, students and the public effectively. Comprehensive communication skills required. Ability to read, write, perform basic math functions, monitor budget accounts and follow written and verbal instructions. Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and explain policies and procedures. Ability to hire, train and supervise personnel. Demonstrated ability to manage inventory of equipment and resources needed to perform moving and setup tasks. Demonstrated ability to maintain records and create reports. Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting.
Special licenses, registration or certification
Valid driver’s license with an insurable record.

Level and type of experience
Considerable experience organizing set up of special events on a large scale. Previous supervisory experience. Considerable experience in operating heavy equipment. Some experience managing budgets, inventories and resources.

Valid Commercial driver’s license with insurable driving record or the ability to obtain the commercial driver license. High School graduate or equivalent.
Conditions of Employment
Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.
