    Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

    Summary:

    The Director of Government Affairs reports to the Northern Light Health Vice President Government Relations. The Director of Government Relations is responsible for inventory and monitoring of legislative and congressional bills impacting Northern Light Health, internal advocacy communications during the legislative session and assisting with research and analysis of legislation. The Director assists the Vice President of Government Relations to develop and implement advocacy strategies. The Director interacts with local, state, and federal legislative bodies and government agencies under the oversight of the Vice President Government Relations.

     

    The Director will work with member organizations to build relationships with regional legislators through communication and engagement on legislative priorities for the organization.

    Responsibilities:

    + Assists the Vice President to research and monitor legislative bills, proposed rules and other government activities that could affect Northern Light Health.

    + Assists the Vice President to research and prepare testimony on legislative bills.

    + Assists the Vice President to prepare briefing documents for Maine’s Congressional delegation.

    + Serves as the liaison to Community Relations on advocacy communications, Northern Light Health councils and workgroups.

    + Coordinates Congressional Directed Spending project development for member organizations and works with the grants team to support submission of project proposals and project management.

    + Builds and maintains professional relationships with staff of federal, state, and local government entities and agencies and collaborates with health care industry advocates.

    + At the direction of the Vice President Government Relations, testifies before legislative committees to communicate the organizational positions of various legislative bills.

    + At the direction of the Vice President of Government Relations communicates with legislators and government staff on policy issues impacting Northern Light Health.

    + Other duties.

    Other Information:

    + Work hours during the legislative session may include evenings, nights and weekends. Ability to take personal time during the legislative session may be limited.
